We’re excited to announce that David Artenosi and Daniel Raskin will serve as the captains of the Northern Maine Pioneers for the 2026-27 season. Both players are returning to the Pioneers in the coming weeks and are ready to take on this new role.

Head Coach Jack Lowry on the announcement: “I’m very happy to announce David Artenosi and Danny Raskin as this year’s Pioneers captains. Being able to watch and work with them last season, it became very clear that they were respected by their teammates.
For a team to be successful, you need strong leadership both on and off the ice. These two young men have demonstrated a strong commitment to the organization and their teammates on a consistent basis. I’m confident that they are up to the task. 15 days until training camp, lets go Pioneers!”

Daniel is ready to take on this dream: “I am beyond thrilled and grateful to have the opportunity to lead the Pioneers this season. Being a co-captain of a hockey team is something I have always wanted to do, and I will take a lot of pride in it. I am very excited to work with David. He is a great player and an unbelievable person. David and I are going to set a standard and create a culture that will hopefully result in a very successful season for the Pioneers.”

David is ready to lead by example: “I’m grateful and honored to be announced as a captain of the Northern Maine Pioneers this season! I take pride and responsibility when it comes to being a leader. I am very excited to be working with Daniel. He is an amazing leader and hockey player. We are prepared to do great things this season, including leading by example on and off the ice, as well as empowering our teammates day in and day out. I believe we have a great group of guys and coaching staff!”

Assistant Coach Hunter Parker added what it means to wear the letter: “Being a captain means much more than wearing a letter. We know that these guys can handle the responsibility and push their teammates to be better every day. Both of these guys display what it means to be a Pioneer, and we couldn’t be happier to have them as our captains.”

The Northern Maine Pioneers are excited to welcome 2006 forward David Artenosi back for the 2026-27 season.

After becoming a fan favorite during our inaugural season, David returns for his final year of junior hockey, bringing leadership, grit, and a team-first mentality to the lineup.

Head Coach Jack Lowry on David’s return: “We’re thrilled to have Dave back with the Pioneers. He embodies everything we’re building here in Presque Isle. Dave is a hard-nosed player who does whatever it takes to help the team succeed. He’s highly motivated, leads by example, and has become a respected voice in our locker room. It didn’t take long for him to become a fan favorite last season, and we’re excited to see him play a major role in what we believe will be a special season.”

David is ready to get back to work: “I’m excited to be back with a great group of guys and coaches for my final season of juniors. I can’t wait to play in front of our fans again and give everything we’ve got for this community. I’m looking forward to getting back to work and making this a season to remember.”
