Got some great snaps of my dear brother and super talented production designer, @letsplayphoto Ryan and his animals during my recent visit to LA in Feb w the last few shots on a roll of film. The lighting in his loft is beautiful for photography, as is his whole aesthetic.

Getting back into my favorite hobby more seriously the past few years. Since 2022 I’ve shot and developed 6 rolls of film. I know it doesn’t seem like a lot but hey…it’s expensive. And well….i think art like most things that are beautiful exists at its own pace. You can tell I need more practice, some are a little over exposed here… but Here’s some film from a fun day around the city in some iconic spots of houstonia’s IYKYK in the heights, Montrose, and the rice village w the beautiful tattoo artist @artofmagick

Part I: Finally developed several rolls of films I have taken over the years, this past weekend at @flatspresents. This one was a 35mm Kodak 400, shot with a 1992 Canon EOS5 my mother bought me for taking B/W film photography class at HCC in 2006….from a trip I took to Colorado Bend State Park and camped along the river for 5 days the day after Chuck found me, which was the day after I was dumped, which was the day after I lost my job at the time. Rest easy sweet angel. #rip Carolyn Nadine Kester, my dear beautiful grandmother who passed peacefully tonight at 97. I will be forever grateful that I was able to hold her hand and look into her eyes one last time before she left this earth to be at peace in heaven. I could feel her loving soul staring back at me, as the tears came streaming down my face. I wept thinking of how wonderful she was to me and all of us, and how I loved her so very much. She was the purest example of unconditional love, and was the richest woman I’ve ever known. Simple, yet constant, a Saint, and an absolute joy to the world. Her legacy that is our family is larger than life, a legacy of true love, and kindness. This has always been one of my favorite pictures I’ve taken of her, circa 2015, from when I came to visit, and did some editing work on her kitchen table on my laptop that day. For fun I had her pose as my assistant editor. As the wind blows, such is life and death. But I know she left fulfilled, and completely whole, because she lived with her whole heart, and lived out of love everyday, always and forever. I love you Grandma. taken in Houston, Texas by @davidalank
