Many years back I read a book "Tough Times Don’t Last, but Tough People Do. Right now, our family is putting that phrase to the test.

Last week was incredibly tough, and the road ahead looks equally difficult but we are taking it day by day.

One week ago, my mom fell and broke her back. While she was recovering in the hospital, my father unexpectedly passed away from a heart attack. 💔

Richard Bush was born in 1943 and had just celebrated his 61st wedding anniversary with my mom. He loved his family, custom cars, and telling stories that could go on for days.

He was known for his one-liners, his kneeboarding tricks, his unique custom cars, and the big smile and laugh he shared whenever you talked to him.

I will always remember his encouragement, his praise, and the sound of him cheering from the sidelines:

“Let’s go, Dave!”

We will hold a small military burial service in his honor at the Western Montana State Veterans Cemetery on Wednesday, August 12, at 11:00 a.m.

Please keep my mom in your prayers as she navigates the heartbreaking loss of her husband of 61 years while also facing a difficult recovery.

If you know her, I know she would welcome a note, text, or message of encouragement. And please feel free to send her a picture of you and your kids or grandkids. She has always loved the little ones.

Tough times don’t last, but tough people do.

Our Dad taught us to be tough, trust in the Lord and God's plan. Now it is our turn to carry that strength forward by the grace of God and our faith in Jesus Christ. by @davidbush65

The A.I.D.A. principle is one of the classic frameworks for writing marketing, sales, advertising, webinar, landing page, email, and social media copy.

It stands for:

A — Attention

First, you must capture attention. People are busy, distracted, and constantly scrolling. Your first job is to make them stop and think, “This is relevant to me.”

Good attention-grabbers often include:

Pain
Problem
Curiosity
Specific audience
Timely trigger
Bold statement
Question

I — Interest

Once you have attention, you need to build interest by showing the reader you understand their situation.

This is where you expand the problem and make it feel relevant. You are basically saying:

“I understand your world.”

“I understand your pain.”

“I understand what is causing the problem.”

“This message is for you.”

D — Desire

Next, you create desire by showing the better future or outcome they want.

This is where you shift from the pain to the possibility. Desire is created by showing:

The outcome
The transformation
The benefit
The relief
The opportunity
The “after” picture

A — Action

Finally, you need to tell the reader exactly what to do next.

Do not assume they know. The action should be simple, clear, and low-friction.

Simple A.I.D.A. Formula

Here is the basic structure:

Attention: Call out the problem or opportunity.
Interest: Explain why it matters and what is causing it.
Desire: Paint the picture of the better outcome.
Action: Tell them the next step.

Why A.I.D.A. Works

A.I.D.A. works because it follows the natural buying journey:

First, people notice something.
Then, they become interested.
Then, they want the result.
Then, they decide whether to act.

The biggest mistake people make is jumping straight to the action before they have created enough attention, interest, or desire.
