Without the political push and the corporate largesse, Tusvanyos was the closest festival to what I might have envisioned in December 1989. The discussion tents were intense and packed. There was a very moving mass held in a venue on the main field - also packed - and I’m glad to say my book on the founding of the event and the work of the Young Liberal Democrats in east Central Europe in the 1980s was sold out! (It also got a shout out from the main stage by Bishop Tokes which helped). Brasov airport surrounded by the Carpathians is set in one of the most beautiful locations I know. by @davidcampanale

It’s back from the printers! Thank you to Ildiko Nemeth for the translations from English into Hungarian and vice versa. And to Zsolt Nemeth for making the project happen through the ProMinoritate Foundation and the Danube Institute. This is the account of the work of the Liberal Democrats in East Central Europe in the 1980s during the end of Communism. Leading to the founding of the Tusvanyos festival in Transylvania. Heading there tomorrow for the book launch. Thanks too to Calum Nicholson head of research at the DI. by @davidcampanale
