Ernie was a lot of things to a lot of people, but to me he was the greatest storyteller to step into my Dad’s shoes after he passed, the father who delivered my Dad’s toast that he didn’t get to give at our wedding, the granddad to our pups, Rosie and Honey Bunny, and the father who raised the man that I love. He welcomed me with open arms and I will forever be grateful for the times we spent together as a family. May the road rise up to meet you, Ernie. by @davidcunningham

LET'S GO!

Ogunquit, Maine, February 24, 2026—The Ogunquit Museum of American Art (OMAA).

We are thrilled to announce David Cunningham as the new Executive Director of OMAA starting March 1st, following a unanimous decision by our Board of Trustees. His leadership spans 30+ years across London, Paris, and New York City, shaping a collaborative, international perspective.

David shares "I’m grateful to the Board, and I’m excited to work with our talented team to build on the strong foundation we have today. It’s a privilege to steward a museum with such a rich history, and one that is truly singular in the American museum landscape. OMAA’s identity is defined by ambitious exhibitions of modern and contemporary American art and an unmistakable sense of place on the Maine coast, perched on a rocky cliff above the Atlantic. There is simply nowhere else to engage with programming of this caliber where the galleries and the sea remain in continuous conversation. The ocean isn’t just our backdrop; it changes how the work is experienced.” by @davidcunningham

No matter what happens on Aug. 27th on any given year, it will always be Gran’s birthday to me. I’m not sure whose birthday this was, but that’s the two of us many moons ago. She was greatest. Happy birthday, Gran❤️ by @davidcunningham
