First off I just wanna say, I really love my job.

Second, I wanna say that this video could’ve EASILY been an hour long but I couldn’t include everybody so if I dapped you up but yeeen make the cut, just know I still think you’re beautiful. 🫶🏾🫂

Third, The best part for me was seeing it click in real time..the reactions were great.

On the 25th anniversary of 9/11, I had the opportunity to film Carl Weisbrod, the founding president of the Downtown Alliance, and Jessica Lappin, its current president.

Documenting their perspectives on Lower Manhattan, its history, and its rebuilding.

3 days, 3 events, 1 New York experience.

Shout out to the whole @swang team & @supermodi for bringing me in to direct, film & edit the trip!
It was a team effort making this happen.

I got to do what I love, learn about the game, meet amazing people all while being in a community that looks like & represents me.

We love seeing NYC through the eyes of the creatives who call it home.

We invited @davidfamous, a Brooklyn-based artist, to step inside Cherry Lane Theatre and experience 𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗙𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗦. Here’s what he had to say:

“I went to see 𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗙𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗦 at Cherry Lane Theatre, and it had everything! Poetry, romance, heartbreak, philosophy, grief, time travel, humor and seriousness. A story of friends, lovers, and soulmates told across 16 years.

I left inspired to learn more about performance, storytelling and the fine arts, and what better place to do that than the iconic Cherry Lane Theatre?

Some of the best storytelling allows you to see yourself in it, and that’s exactly what happened to me.

I saw a little bit of myself in Dre, and the story had me thinking about the ways the people and experiences in our lives shift us, shape us, and change us.

Happy To Grieve: Part One

This is one minute from a 30 minute conversation I had with myself, speaking to my mom, facing her absence, finally addressing her for longer than a passing moment. She transitioned when I was 17, the summer before my senior year & so much of my life was shaped but also stunted by that moment. My spirit for others and life grew, but my heart receded, I had everything to give but I struggled to receive, I could deeply empathize and understand others pain but had no path to navigate my own.

Happy To Grieve was recorded in February the beginning month of sobriety from everything & the feelings and emotions around my mother were more vivid, more overwhelming than I have experienced in the last 15 years. Recording this was my way of not just opening the door but walking through it finally without numbing or compartmentalizing parts of myself because it hurt to face it.

Tbh idk if there will be a part two, this was heavy to film, and equally heavy to edit, but I feel lighter and more happy from every part of this process and to anyone whose loss still feels heavy, just know you can be happy while you grieve.
