@selenagomez and @instagram teamed up to find her most creative and inspiring fan photo and drumroll............ the collaboration @jp4me and I created won! Crazy that less than two weeks ago Jesse approached me with his concept and my body paint, backdrop, and photography brought it to life. We were flown to New York where I created a new backdrop and body paint on Jesse. Selena came to the studio when I was a little over half way completed and we took some fun photos. Today @selenagomez @instagram and @music will be sharing this photo they selected. I'm floored and excited and grateful! Thank you Selena, Instagram, Jesse, and everyone who reposted our photo on instagram using #REVIVALstories. More photos coming soon. We did it Jesse! P.S. Selena is a sweetheart and funny as hell! 👍 #revivalstories #selenagomez #instagram #davidgilmorestudio #davidgilmore #jessepattison #dreambig #bodyart #bodypaint by @davidgilmore

Thank you to the client who was interested in a navy blue haired Lincoln with a half patterned face.

LAYERED MEMORIES
A figurative exhibition of what we carry.

Opening October 10th at VEFA Gallery, Layered Memories brings together a powerful group of contemporary artists exploring one of humanity’s oldest and most enduring subjects: the human body. Rooted in rich traditional techniques, these works push figurative art forward through contemporary aesthetics, materials, gesture, and execution. The result is a fresh, layered examination of identity, memory, form, and the stories we carry within us.

Curated by Jonathan Anderson, this is VEFA Gallery’s next major exhibition, and the opening night will be one to remember.

During the reception, David Gilmore and Paul Roustan will perform live body-painting demonstrations on models, transforming the human figure itself into a living canvas throughout the evening.

Featuring @isaacpelayo , @dofreart , @julie.malina , @roustan , @debbiekorbel , @danielsartwork , @rei_art , @davidgilmore , & @ink.by.james

Come get your art fix with us.

This is more than an opening reception. It is a celebration of the figure, the artist, and the evolution of a subject that has defined art for centuries.

You won’t want to miss this one. RSVP now. VEFA Gallery poster for Layered Memories. Honor Dolly in OC at this beautiful mural by @davidgilmore on the side of @bonedaddyzmusicloung near 19th and Pomona in Costa Mesa

The mural will serve as a venue for a candlelight vigil this Friday at 6:30pm

Commissioned in 2021 by @lukenero to give us all hope and it now serves as a beautiful reminder of her legacy.

The song says "when I get where I'm going, don't cry for me down here", but I am failing at that. taken in BoneDaddyz music lounge by @davidgilmore

In 2021 @lukenero commissioned this 19 ft x 53 ft mural of Dolly Parton on the side of @strutorangecounty. He asked that I create something iconic and heroic. I worked on this over the course of a month and met so many people of all backgrounds including very differing political leanings and everyone I spoke to all said they loved and respected her. It’s hard to imagine another person who is/ was so beloved. Dolly was the best of us….. Humor, heart, wit, inclusive, thoughtful, generous, compassionate, and a talent beyond measure.
She was love and light in a human form.

Thank you Shelby for commissioning this 18” x 24” acrylic on wooden panel painting, completed with a floater frame. This is a continuation of a series I’d previously done where I referenced vintage photos of hands holding cigarettes but swapped out the ciggie for a flower.
Including some of those other paintings. #floral #patterned by @davidgilmore

I’m from Washington State and lived in Seattle for many years which made me especially excited to see the Northwest’s latest celeb Jimothy. He’s a raccoon with short spined syndrome and an absolutely adorable little guy! Not sure if he’ll reach the same level of fame as fellow Seattle superstars like Kurt Cobain or Jimi Hendrix, but why not dress up as them?
