Last year the circus came to town for my birthday. Clowns, cages, a live snake and looks to die for. This year we are going to Hollywood. The final countdown has begun. by @davidmahyari

Jewellery needs light. Selenite gives it back. For the Tiffany stores, we supply the selenite for the display counters. Luminous without shining, so the jewellery takes the stage.

A month of runways & stages. Different disciplines, same instinct: build something people have to experience in person.

@celinedion, back on stage in Paris. @willoperron set her against three moving monoliths. Heavy material for a voice that carries everything else.

Matisse cut The Snail straight from colour when he could no longer paint. At Tate Modern, @isseymiyakeofficial gave those shapes a body. Dancers pulled pleats from beneath the floor, then sat down across from single guests and improvised a dance for that one person. Held together by eye contact. Art you are inside of.

@yontstudio built a listening booth inside KaDeWe, the Berlin department store recently renovated by @oma.eu . Salvaged car seats, over 140 cassettes, pink blocks that look freshly quarried. Music you have to sit down for.

@demna’s @gucci. Every character the house has ever played, on one runway. The archive, worn loud.

@cultgaia in New York, staged by @bureaubetak . Sculpted walls, a hill of moss, daylight from above. A set that feels carved rather than built.

@nick_knight turned the @hm runway into a moving painting. Every model walking past her own digital afterimage.

@michaelkors took over the MoMA sculpture garden. Pop colour, optical stripes, sixties proportions. Fashion shown as fine art, on a marble floor built for sculpture.

South African land artist @strijdomvandermerwe laid a trail loop through Tenerife’s Poris Desert for @on and @postarchivefaction. Rocks placed by hand, nothing more. His rule: nature decides the material, the location and the outcome.

@simoneri & @messinaloris first @moschino show opened with a crowd. Commuters, dog walkers, people on the phone, people on their way home from the club. Then the models walked straight through them in the opposite direction. The best way to make clothes stand out is to show them against real life.

@thombrowne at The Shed. A giant chrysalis, models dressed as caterpillars, and then the collection emerged. His signature grey tailoring, covered in butterflies, bees, dragonflies and ants. The insects you normally keep out of your wardrobe, embroidered into it.

The most interesting material at @newbottega this season wa by @davidmahyari

From the table to the collection.
The candle holders designed by Sabine Marcelis for the Amsterdam Fashion Week opening dinner are now available as a limited edition.
Two sizes, two natural stones, 100 pieces each. Numbered, never reissued.
Combine them, or let one stand on its own.

Link in bio.

This month’s thoughts on perseverance.

I can smell the finish line. But right now, all I can feel is the fire in my lungs and the burning in my legs. I am close. And I am tired.
Maybe that is the cruelest part of becoming: sometimes the promise feels nearest when I feel least capable of reaching it.

There are moments when nothing around me proves that it is coming. No open door. No sudden breakthrough. No evidence that everything I have carried was worth it.

Only a cloud the size of a hand. But before Elijah saw the rain, he heard it. Sometimes the first sign of what is coming is so small that fear tells me it means nothing.
But faith sees the cloud and prepares for the storm. I am learning that faith is not pretending I am not tired. It is hearing the rain while I am still standing in the drought.

I may not see the rain yet. I may not know how close I am. But something in me knows: It is coming.

So I will keep running with tired legs. I will keep believing before there is proof. I will keep moving when every part of me asks how much longer. Because I did not come this far to let exhaustion decide how my story ends. I may be one step away. One prayer away. One decision away.

So I will keep moving.

Not because I can see the finish line, but because I can hear that it is there. Not because the rain has started, but because I can already smell it in the air.

Now close your eyes. See what is not yet visible. Trust what you already feel.

And repeat after me:

I will not give up. by @davidmahyari

It began as a single gesture of light.
Arranged across the table at the opening dinner of Amsterdam Fashion Week, curved in stone, holding the colour and movement of a flame.
Now the pieces are leaving the table.

More soon?

Cause otherwise the workout didn’t count.

Signed up for my first HYROX, and I am getting ready for it.
Over the past three years, training has become non-negotiable for me. Different countries, different time zones, busy schedule. I will always find a way.

It started as part of losing weight. Somewhere along the way, it became about much more than that. Training is where I practise discipline. Where I learn to show up when I don’t feel like it. Where I clear my head when life gets loud.

I used to think discipline was about pushing yourself. Now I think it’s about keeping promises to yourself. by @davidmahyari

Visiting Kusama at the Stedelijk, I was struck by the sheer scope of a creative journey spanning more than seventy years.

But what stayed with me most was a childhood drawing. The dots were already there. As a young girl, she experienced hallucinations in which patterns spread across everything around her. Seeing those dots on paper, knowing they would one day become recognised around the world, moved me.

That is what draws me to her work. How she gave form to something so difficult and deeply personal, and spent a lifetime turning it into something she could share with the world.

Ten days in Brazil. Some days, thirteen hours on the road.

Not there for the view, but to select.

Raw material for projects that are still being designed, for people who trust us to see what they cannot yet see themselves.

And to curate what comes next. Searching for materials we haven’t seen before, and deciding which ones deserve a place in the SolidNature collection.

Every quarry, every block, every slab gets the same question:
Does this belong in our world?

Most don’t.

Because curation isn’t about finding more.
It’s about knowing what to leave behind. by @davidmahyari

@amsterdamfashionweek. What an edition!

What we experienced over the past week is the result of an incredible amount of work, vision and, perhaps most importantly, fearlessness.

Thank you @bydanienl for involving us once again.

What I admire about @bydanienl is her ability to look beyond the obvious boundaries of fashion. To connect disciplines, people and ideas that traditionally existed in different worlds, and to understand that culture becomes far more interesting when those worlds meet.

It was an honour to host the opening dinner of Amsterdam Fashion Week together with @sabine_marcelis, and to continue that conversation on stage later in the week.

I have always considered @solid_nature closer to a fashion house than to a traditional material or fabrication company.

Because our worlds are driven by many of the same obsessions.

Material. Colour. Form. Craft.

And the ability to take something raw and transform it into something that carries emotion.

Perhaps that is where fashion and design truly meet. Not in the discipline itself, but in the desire to create something that makes people feel and which tells a story. by @davidmahyari
