55:57 Mixed Doubles with @akiyoshida2025. 1st overall and new Japan national record - unfortunately DQ 2h post race.

Racing with Aki is a whole other level of intensity - and fun. I’m looking forward to the next one! We will be back even faster. taken in Chiba, Japan by @davidoffergeld

Here are 5 key sessions that helped me build a 57-minute HYROX.
To get as close to race conditions as possible, make sure you don’t wear a shirt for any of these.

>>>>>

The workout most people skip because it’s too painful. HYROX is a threshold race and 60% of it is running. Train for it.

I like to do 3 by 3km at threshold with a
2 min float in between.

The stations are far more technical than they seem. Better technique means faster pace and less energy expenditure.
Do these sessions fresh to make sure you’re focused on moving well rather than grinding through.

I like to do EMOMs focused on 1-2 stations at a time.

You can play around here. The aim is to build a large aerobic base and hone in on your technique.
When you get efficient on the ergs, you gain an advantage because you hit the sled push fresh and you get a break mid race on the rower so you can attack the second half fresh.

I like to do 10 by 1k off 60s, 5 by 2k off 60s, 4 by 3k off 60s or a circuit similar to 2k row, 2k air bike, 2k ski.

A good strength session belongs in every HYROX program.
Focus on compounds with maximum carryover to the race. Front squats, RDLs, overhead press and reverse lunges are some good examples.
Bicep curls and lateral raises help a lot with the finisher picture.

This is crucial for the race. Focus on the stations you struggle with the most. To get better, overload either the runs or the stations with intent.

Overloading the stations means you maintain race pace on the runs but you add weight, distance or effort on the stations.

Overloading the runs means you keep the stations at race effort but you run faster than race pace.

I like to do 5 by 1k into sleds, lunges and burpees. taken in Tokyo, Japan by @davidoffergeld

Challenger Division first. Elite 15 long-term.

I’ve always loved training hard. But if I want to see how far I can really go in HYROX, hard work alone is not enough.

That’s why I’m teaming up with @alexander.meisolle as my 1:1 HYROX coach.

The focus: smarter prioritization and scientific programming. The right exercises, the right paces and the right volume.

Let’s see what we can achieve together. taken in Tokyo, Japan by @davidoffergeld
