I think my two favorite score writers are Ennio Morricone, and the esteemed Angelo Badalamenti.

I can still remember the first time I watched the intro to Twin Peaks, and how striking and poignant the theme was. At this moment, it is impossible for me to think of another film or show where the music felt so important, so pivotal to the feeling and to the experience of watching it. Angelo’s score was another character, in many ways it was the glue…

My first home in Seattle had an almost checkered tiled floor. I found the Twin Peaks score on vinyl on eBay, back before it had been repressed so it was such a treasure, it still is. I recall putting it on and sashaying around my room like Audrey Horne in The Double R diner, my own black lodge.

A singular talent, an artist who elevated the work of those he collaborated with, a feeler and a seer. Listening to this music and watching that show will never be the same now that he is gone, and what a lovely way to be remembered. taken in Snoqualmie, Washington by @davidsinclairrobison

Last week we set out from Telegraph Cove at the northern end of Victoria Island and kayaked across the Johnson Straight to Hanson Island through thick marine fog.

We commandeered a camp leased by a kayak touring company until the they arrived and kicked us out on the last day 🙃

We saw pods of Orcas, humpback whales, porpoises, and some of the most spectacular sunsets I have ever seen.

The feeling of communing with these amazing animals is something I will never forget.
