So Gerry had gone to a store the other day and they had given her a “free” sample with her purchase. When she looked at the receipt, she realized they had charged her a penny for the sample. So she decided she was going to get her penny back because they said it was a free sample. This is her after. by @davidtoddiii

RELEASING TRAUMA!
I’m a 58yr old gay man. l’ve been with my husband for 28yrs. We’ve been married for 4.
We have an incredible child (21 now) whom we adopted at birth. We have a wonderful life and all the blessings. I feel very lucky!

About a week ago l watched the CRAVE/HBO Max series “Heated Rivalry”. The storyline in a nutshell is a gay romance set in the world of professional hockey. Since then l can’t shake a profound feeling of sadness AND JOY.

It’s the sadness that’s been troubling me. Why am I sad? My son asked if maybe I have survivors guilt for making it though the AIDS crisis. I thought... maybe. But that’s not all.
Then it hit me…

I was in the closet until I met my husband when I was 28. Half my life I was pretending to be someone I wasn’t. HALF MY LIFE fearing being caught. Praying l would become straight.

Coming out became my most freeing experience. My family couldn’t have been more supportive. I was very lucky.

After years of therapy it took a gay hockey romance to show me 28 years of being in the closet caused severe trauma.
It’s very cathartic and immensely freeing to let go of this.

Thank you to Heated Rivalry for giving our community such an important series that quite literally is changing lives, and I’m sure saving them as well.
