We are starting a FREE training community for people with Parkinson Disease inspired by El Camino de Santiago. We are going to meet every other week, work on walking, and to to use the powerful combination of exercise coupled with community to fight some of the non-motor symptoms associated with PD (apathy, anxiety, and depression) so people can keep or reclaim a sense of agency despite their diagnosis. We are also going to raise money for the @davisphinneyfnd along the way!

Next May, the culmination of our training could result in a trip to Spain for the Camino, a matched distance from home, or a plan to walk 100km throughout the month.

If you know someone who might be interested, have them fill out this form and join us for a webinar on November 12th!

Ever have a word right on the tip of your tongue and it just won't come out?

For people with Parkinson's, this "tip-of-the-tongue" feeling is common, and a softer voice can make it even more frustrating when you have to repeat yourself.

The Cognitive Symptoms chapter of our free Every Victory Counts® manual has practical ways to navigate these changes. Get your copy at dpf.org/evc.

We're grateful to Genentech, Amneal Pharmaceuticals, BlueRock Therapeutics, AbbVie, and The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research for supporting the Every Victory Counts® manual and helping make this resource available to the Parkinson's community. by @davisphinneyfnd

Is it apathy, fatigue, depression—or simply a change in motivation?

For care partners, understanding what’s behind changes in a loved one’s activity and engagement can be challenging. And with Parkinson’s, some of these changes may be symptoms of the disease itself.

In this one-hour Care Partner Meetup conversation, Dr. Brad McDaniels joined Connie Carpenter Phinney, Gail Gitin, and Pat Donahoo for a practical and honest discussion about apathy in Parkinson’s.

They explored:
• How apathy can differ from depression and fatigue
• Why care partners are often the first to notice changes
• Strategies that may help, including external cues and scheduling
• When and how to bring concerns to the care team
• How apathy can affect care partners, too—including guilt and reactive depression
• Why maintaining your own meaning and purpose matters

Living well with Parkinson’s doesn’t always happen in a doctor’s office or through a resource guide. Sometimes it happens over coffee, on a walk, or during a conversation with someone who truly gets it.

That’s what Davis Phinney Foundation Ambassadors are here for.

Ambassadors educate, mentor, and connect—sharing trusted resources, offering encouragement, and helping individuals and families impacted by Parkinson’s find the support and connections that fit their needs.

Every Ambassador brings their own experiences, strengths, and knowledge to their community. Together, they’re helping more people find the information, support, and connection they need to live well today. 💙
