[Flair l’art • épisode 9 : L'abstraction]

Avec la parfumeure Anne-Sophie Behaghel (@ansobehaghel), la plasticienne Virginie Ittah (@virginie_ittah) et le parfumeur David Chieze (@davkze).

Après avoir envisagé la mimesis et son pouvoir de reproduire le réel en faisant appel à la figuration, Flair l'art plonge dans une autre manière qu’a eu l’histoire de l’art d’écrire son objet et qui se retrouve corps et âme dans l’histoire de la parfumerie : l’abstraction.

Née au début du XXe siècle, l’abstraction traverse divers courant comme l’abstraction lyrique, l’abstraction géométrique, l’expressionisme abstrait et se définit de diverses manières : dès le début du XXe siècle, l’historien et critique d’art Wilhelm Worringer envisage de concert l’émotion et l’abstraction dans son fameux ouvrage paru en 1907 Abstraktion und Einfühlung (Abstraction et « empathie »), une notion que nous allons retrouver avec la plasticienne Virginie Ittah du duo Ittah Yoda et le parfumeur David Chieze et bien plus tard, à la fin du XXe siècle, pour Gilles Deleuze et Felix Guattari, l’abstraction sera défini comme affinant la sensation, la dématérialisant, lui permettant de devenir un pur être spirituel », et c’est ce que l’on retrouvera dans la pensée de la parfumeure Anne-Sophie Behaghel.

WERBUNG | I want to introduce you to the first fragrance from the artist collection of Thomas de Monaco!

When Thomas told be about the idea of “Flowers of the Future”, I found it very thought-provoking. A way of imagining perfumery without nostalgia. Instead of reaching back to what nature has already perfected, he envisions a garden that doesn’t yet exist. A place where flowers are born from molecules, shaped by creativity rather than biology, and allowed to become something nature hasn’t offered us yet. No replicas, no sentimentality; but new forms of beauty waiting to be written. Jade Amour feels like the first bloom from that re-imagined garden of future.

Jade Amour feels like one of the first flowers blooming in that re-imagined garden. It opens as a soft yellow glow, almost like morning light settling on the skin. There’s a creamy floral impression, although nothing lactonic or sweet; more like warmth diffused through petals that feel smooth and modern.

From the first spray, the fragrance carries this forward-looking spirit: familiar enough to comfort, yet it feels like it’s been subtly altered, as if its floral character has been edited for the next chapter. As it develops, Jade Amour becomes more serene. The warmth deepens, the florals soften, and a calm, radiant mood settles in. It stays close to the skin yet never feels flat, it reminds you of it’s presence every now and then. And this is where David Chieze’s touch becomes unmistakable. He has a way of building emotional texture into scents; simple on the surface yet full of gentle movement. His recent work keeps surprising me, and Jade Amour adds another beautiful example to that list.

🔴 Overall, Jade Amour is a stunning interpretation of “Flowers of the Future theme”. It perfectly portrays a time in which perfumery isn’t trying to recreate nature but extend it.
