This is Gunther. He’s my new best friend. 🐾

Sorry to anyone who previously thought they were my best friend. You have been officially been dethroned.

Gunther loves an adventure, but he’s still just a puppy. So sometimes he’ll take a power nap in backpack.

The views are great, but apparently the smells are far more important. He only agrees to ride for a maximum of 10 minutes. Then he demands to get his nose to the grind stone.

Gunther met his first cows and enjoyed a beautiful sunset 🐄🐾 🌅

The cows were curious at first, but the second Gunther got close they took off running. They must know his favorite treats are freeze dried beef organs 🥩

After a good beach walk, Gunther likes to find a good stick and watch the ducks. 🪵🦆

He’s got big plans for those ducks; one day he’s going to catch one.

Until then the ducks seem to think this is hilarious and quack from the safety of their swimming hole.

But, when Gunther has a good stick not even the quacking laughter of ducks can faze him

@audreyladd is actually Gunther’s best friend… I am merely his second favorite, but, that’s fine with me 😁

It won’t be long before we’re eye to eye when I kneel down for a selfie 🥹

Here’s Gunther pausing his beachside chew, just to make sure I was enjoying the view too. 🪵🌊🐾

Gunther has seen more of the American West in his first three months than most people will see in a lifetime 🐾🏜️

Here we are posing just outside Arches National Park.

Of course, I had to wear my bright orange pants… I thought I matched the rocks. Everyone else thought I just escaped 😂

When the view is good orrrr Gunther has to pee we pull over to see and smell everything we can. 🐾🏜️

Of course, he’d rather explore with @audreyladd, so I just follow behind and take pictures. 📸

All this traveling sure does tire this little boy out. Luckily, Gunther isn’t too picky about where he naps. by @davovicker

If you’d paddle this, you should join us at next year’s Packraft Roundup hosted by @americanpackraftingassociation . 🛶🌊

This is Wake Up Gorge on the South Fork of the Payette River. It was one of the most technical rapids I’ve run in a packraft so far, with enough moves to keep me locked in from top to bottom.

I was paddling the EVO from @mrs.packrafting , and it handled the rapid beautifully. It punched through waves, felt incredibly stable, and made the whole run an absolute blast.

At the Packraft Roundup hosted by @americanpackraftingassociation , they challenged us to get in and out of your packraft five times in under a minute.

Somewhere along the way, I convinced myself the challenge was ten in under a minute.

My first attempt,with a paddle, I only got me to eight. So I ditched the paddle, tried again, and somehow made all ten in under a minute. 😅

Turns out I completely misunderstood the challenge… but I still walked away with raffle tickets and won an @ibex base layer, so I’d call that a win. 🛶🤙 by @davovicker

There are some big hits on the Middle Fork of the Flathead! Of course, @audreyladd found the biggest hole on the river and plugged it. 🌊🫨

This summer, I headed to Montana to explore new rivers and new drainages. This is a story about one of the newest rivers in my river log.

Beyond Blowovers follows @audreyladd and me on our back packing trip into and our paddle down the Middle Fork of the Flathead. a trip filled with endless blowdowns, a long hike, and an unforgettable stretch of white water.

What an incredible weekend at the @americanpackraftingassociation Packraft Roundup on the Main and North Fork of the Payette! 🛶🌊

If you’re anything like me, your packraft picked up a few river miles this weekend. Before you stash it away, take a few minutes to give it the care it deserves.

🧼 Wash your boat.
🛠️ Lube your TIZIP.
☀️ Let it dry completely.
🛶 Roll it up and plan the next one.

Keep your packraft adventure-ready for seasons to come. A little maintenance now goes a long way.

A huge thank you to @zootownsurfers for letting me spend the weekend paddling the @mrs.packrafting EVO packraft. It was an absolute blast smashing through waves on the Payette.

Ha Giang Loop, Vietnam
Circa 2025 🇻🇳🏍️

The Ha Giang Loop is one of the most incredible motorcycle journeys I’ve ever experienced. Over a few unforgettable days, I met amazing people, shared countless meals, drank plenty of “happy water,” and experienced the incredible culture and hospitality of northern Vietnam.

This first shot might be my favorite exposure from the Grand Canyon. I can’t tell if it’s a double or triple exposure but happy accidents are one of my favorite parts of shooting film.

Part 2: Entrapments Are No Fun!

In this scenario from our Swiftwater Rescue course with @riverreadymt, we practiced a second rescue technique designed to keep an entrapped swimmer’s head above water while ferrying them safely to shore.

The Swiftwater Rescue course, sponsored by @zootownsurfers, was an incredible experience that helped me earn my Swiftwater Rescue certification. I hope I never have to use these skills in a real rescue, but they give me greater confidence as a guide and a deeper appreciation for the importance of training.
