i have fantasized about making this shirt for so long (2 weeks!) and HARK BEHOLD IT IN ITS 2 DIMENSIONAL GLORY!
based on a john lennon tee (mid guy, rizz shirts) that many etsy sellers have tried to recreate and none have tried to riff on??

We All Took So Many Photos of Her Because She Was So Beautiful

today is airin’s celebration of life. all are welcome, come and go, come as you are. huge thank you to those who organized.

in the first days after she died, when i simply could not stop crying, i suddenly knew what to do. i grabbed a pen and wrote her a letter, releasing the words i wished i could say to her, packed it in a pretty box with a little pet for company and snacks for her journey. mike and i went to the lake and i sobbed while i told her how much we had wanted her to stay, but that we respect her right to leave. that we love her. we buried the box and lit candles she had given me for my birthday. we sat until the sunset and it REALLY TRULY felt like she sat beside us and i put my arm around her perfect little body one more time.
the things we believe when someone crosses over can feel profound and silly, like all humanhood i guess. after we buried her care package, i was able to stop crying and have felt a lot of peace. a couple days later i was painting with a slime green colour and the paint started bubbling out of the tube. i took more paint, and more bubbled out. i believed it was airin and i laughed with her.

i have no concluding thoughts, i guess i’m just sharing what helped me. i don’t want my instagram to be all about death but one purpose of art is to process the unknowable depths. that is what airin is doing in this painting of her, based on The Bridesmaid by Millais.
life is beautiful because it is short. death is fair because no one escapes. love makes a life full, no matter how long. by @daweski

on friday we lost our beloved victor, my stepdad, to cancer.

it came on quickly and presented itself mysteriously. in january he was his big strong self, by the spring he was mostly blind and had long since been able to walk. he was an example of grace throughout it all- sweet and loving and funny right up until the end.

vic and my mom celebrated their 25 year wedding anniversary in december of 2024. he retired not long after. he turned 65 in a hospital bed.
there are 6 “kids” in our blended family- three from each side- and TEN beautiful grandkids. poppa V is and will continue to be an absolute legend. he taught us all so much — from framing a painting or plumbing a faucet, to showing up when it’s tough. he had integrity. he stood and delivered. he was a Good Man. he changed my family and my life forever. he made my mom’s dreams come true and he was one hell of a cat dad.
