Now that Marsupial is out (go watch it), I’ve been thinking about what an honor it was to screen Marsupial at film festivals alongside so many other talented filmmakers. There’s something special about showing your film in a theater to people who love the art form as much as you do.

This film taught me more than I can put into words. But the moments that stay with me are the ones when someone told me how the film made them feel, or that they saw themselves in it. That’s the whole reason we do this. Those are the moments that inspire me to make the next film. Until then, go watch Marsupial. Link in bio!

Kais Marz (@kais.marz) is an Arab American film director based in Dallas, Texas, renowned for his unique storytelling and fresh perspectives in the world of cinema. Growing up, Kais moved around frequently, which exposed him to a diverse array of cultures. This multicultural upbringing, coupled with his obsession with art and pop culture—especially music and film—profoundly influences his distinctive filmmaking style.

Kais began creating films at the young age of 13, demonstrating a passion and talent for storytelling that has only grown stronger over the years. His early start in filmmaking allowed him to experiment with different genres and techniques, shaping his artistic voice and honing his craft.
His films are characterized by their vibrant storytelling, rich cultural tapestries, and innovative approaches, reflecting the varied influences from his background. Kais’ work offers audiences a new and refreshing perspective, often weaving together elements from his diverse experiences to create compelling and relatable narratives.

Involved in the independent film scene, directing and shooting projects spanning films, commercials, and other creative media, his work ranges from horror and obscure visuals to more stylized cleanly lit scenes. Working on writing more and approaching a more directorial approach for his creative release, he currently has a few projects up his sleeve that he looks forward to sharing with the world soon.
