We could write a whole essay on how the world inside a bookstore offers itself to your imagination and how community can create your place in the family of things. But we will let Mary Oliver's words speak on their own.

The Dawn Treader has our own Liberty Street community that we invite you to join. Watch Mary Oliver's new documentary at the Michigan Theater, then stop by our poetry section to take a gander. Or just talk poetry with us! by @dawntreaderbooks

Moving in this fall? Before you rush to a big box store, try these sustainable swaps:

🆓 Join Ann Arbor Buy No Things Facebook Group or App for free household items
🛋️ Hit up Kiwanis or Facebook Marketplace for furniture with character
👕 Thrift your clothes (1 new t-shirt = 2,700L of water!)
💻 Get refurbished tech with warranties from Apple or Back Market

Pro tip: Live in your space for a week before buying extras. Half those "college essentials" lists aren't actually essential!

Every thrifted purchase supports local businesses, saves money, and keeps items out of landfills.

📍 Check our interactive map of Ann Arbor thrift spots → link in bio

And go to engage.a2gov.org/student-move for more sustainable moving tips & resources!

Current Magazine's Best of Washtenaw is back for 2026! The Dawn Treader has been lucky enough to win best Used Books in the past and would be so honored if you'd take the time to nominate us for this year!

The Dawn Treader has been a part of the Washtenaw County community for 50 years. And we can't imagine a better community than all of you, who have supported us and made us who we are.

Link to nominate below. 📚💙📚

Happy Pride Month! 🏳️‍🌈📚 Did you know we have an LGBTQIA+ section? We try to keep it full of a mix of fiction, non-fiction, YA, and graphic novels, but the stock moves fast (it's very popular).

Stop by to browse today and see what treasures you can find! by @dawntreaderbooks

It’s a beautiful day to Mi Book Hop!

This week, we’re hopping around the Ann Arbor area: @dawntreaderbooks @serendipity_books_chelsea @courageousbookstore and @shopbooksweet!

There’s something for everyone at these participating indies- mazes of used books, friendly faces and close proximity to donut shops, sticker wall heaven etc. You’ve got just over a week left to fill up those passports and bingo cards, *HOP* to it! #mibookhop by @dawntreaderbooks
