A did something new for paraclimbing a few weekends ago.

The Belgium National this year ran a brilliant idea of doing actual lead climbing, speed, and bouldering.

40 athletes from all over the world and from all disciplines attended to show that para athletes can also do the same level of sport as the able World level climbers.

I won 2 x bronze medals in lead and bouldering. Actually coming 2nd in lead climbing.

It showed how national competitions can include other disciplines. I hope that more countries adopt this kind of opportunity going for in future years.

Thank you to the Belgium organization and @fre.climbs for running a brilliant event and to @klimax_bvkb for hosting the day.

Thank you to my strength and conditioning coach Joe from @ascend_strength_pt for putting me on track to be able to bring home these medals.

Here is my finals climb for the World Cup Innsbruck 2024

Winning Silver and yesterday found out that paraclimbing is in the LA 2028 Paralympics.

Had a fantastic session at @depotsheffield with @dazzle_uk, @erin_thephysio and @tild_g taping their left knee and ankle to try and mimic the restriction of a prosthetic. Next step (I think) is for me to try it on my right leg and compare the two.

This is me most days when I have to get up so early, in order to be able to function. I need about 2 to 3 hrs for my mind and body to get working, fall in line with each other, and operate the way most people do on a daily basis without having to think about it.

Why?????

I wanted to upload this climb, not only because it was my first ever sport lead route in competition, but also because I was still not sure if I could even do this competition after my injury. I had only been given the results the day before I traveled to Belgium.

I'm happy to say I loved this competition and hope they do it next year.

Now I am in my last training block before I head out to laval to the para series in France.

I love my sport, not only is it growing in numbers but also the style of competition is changing.

Yesterday’s GB Nationals at 270 Climbing
Climbing was my first time at the venue, and I loved both the event and the wall. Qualifications were fairly straightforward, everything felt on track, and I managed the heat and my MS well.

Then Isolation and Finals dragged on due to setting and scheduling issues. Finals were meant to start at 6 pm but didn’t kick off until just before 8 pm. By then, my MS and fatigue had peaked—after a 6 am start, a 14-hour day was always going to be a stretch. I know the longer the day runs, the harder my MS hits.

Can you spot the problem in the photo of me on the wall? What did I forget to do? I noticed the mistake as soon as I pulled on, but it was too late. With my brain foggy and the processing load of climbing feeling overwhelming, I came off early.

Huge congratulations to Charlie on the win. I’m genuinely happy I got to be there and compete.
