Loved working with @dcdancela Elevate Program 🤍

I’m really grateful for these dancers, their trust and their willingness to dive into the work means everything. This piece was a bit more mature, and we focused less on technical approaches to movement and more on the performance, just being real and present.

They each brought something different to it, and I’m so proud of how much they’ve grown, especially after a year apart. 🤍

Feeling lucky to have been a small part of their journey. Please enjoy ✨

Dance class is the time for exploration. Where mistakes are allowed and learned. As an educator, I never expect young dance artists in training to have a “perfect class” or pick up the choreography (especially not mine) down to every detail right away, in one hour. I look for the the in-between moments, the nuances and elements of individuality that adds layers to my choreography. Specifically, choosing to approach the choreography a bit differently by adding their own flare and style while keeping the integrity of the choreography and technique. I want dancers to persuade observers, focus on the transitions and the emotional impact. While I am not against it, I don’t always expect a super clean and aesthetically pleasing routine at the end of a class or in general. But instead I expect effort towards trying something new and challenging while keeping the audience engaged. Class is a moment to practice purposeful action, storytelling and choices. So I believe mistakes are a must in class to be fully honest as an artist, prepared and present for the performance. Thank you to the amazing dancers of @dcdancela for tackling this challenge as always I adore you all!

Day 2️⃣ Week 2️⃣ and the vibes are high✨

Our littles spent their morning with @reesebevtaylor and our pre-pro kids had a full evening! They started at the barre with @erikthordalchristensen, moved into some contemporary phrasing with our very own @__tessmarie__ and wrapped up with an industry master class from @nadineolmo. Safe to say the kids are WORKING! 🔥
