Dance class is the time for exploration. Where mistakes are allowed and learned. As an educator, I never expect young dance artists in training to have a “perfect class” or pick up the choreography (especially not mine) down to every detail right away, in one hour. I look for the the in-between moments, the nuances and elements of individuality that adds layers to my choreography. Specifically, choosing to approach the choreography a bit differently by adding their own flair and style while keeping the integrity of the choreography and technique. I want dancers to persuade observers, focus on the transitions and the emotional impact. While I am not against it, I don’t always expect a super clean and aesthetically pleasing routine at the end of a class or in general. But instead I expect effort towards trying something new and challenging while keeping the audience engaged. Class is a moment to practice purposeful action, storytelling and choices. So I believe mistakes are a must in class to be fully honest as an artist, prepared and present for the performance. Thank you to the amazing dancers of @dcdancela for tackling this challenge as always I adore you all!

I’m so excited to be part of the DC DANCE LA Leap-a-thon! At this event, I’ll be leaping my heart out to help raise money to pay for my competitions and conventions. I have 2 solos I’ll be competing this year that I am very excited about! I also look forward to my group pieces and always dancing with my friends!!

These events are really special because they help me grow so much as a dancer, perform on big stages, and learn from amazing teachers.

I’d love your support—every little bit helps me reach my goal and keeps me dancing toward my dreams! Link in bio to donate.

Thank you so much for cheering me on! 💜✨

Empowered women empower the next generation. 🌟

Had the absolute privilege of teaching two youth self-defense workshops at @dcdancela recently. Teaching safety skills, situational awareness, and confidence to these rising stars is always an honor.

These young women are strong, confident, and a true force of nature. Watch them shake up the world!

Drop a “⚡️” in the comments to send some love and support to these amazing young women!

Thank you @yanaika.h for thinking of me, and allowing me to be a part of such an awesome day!
