Tomorrow is the last day of the @3daysofdesign. Come and check out my wood fountain🪵⛲♥️

The Wood Fountain is an outdoor sculpture created for the courtyard at @kunstglstrand for the group exhibition, A Prima Vista, during the @3daysofdesign in Copenhagen organised by @lokalhelsinki + @finindk . Resembling the form of a traditional fountain, the work is constructed entirely from wood and contains no water. It begins with a simple hypothesis: what remains of a fountain when water is removed? If the source of movement and sound disappears, what is left in the fountain?

Throughout history, fountains have continuously shifted in purpose. Early fountains emerged from practical needs for drinking water. The mythology of the fountain of youth projects the dream of eternity pursuit. As societies developed, fountains became symbols of wealth, political power, and technological achievement. Later, with the indoor pumping systems, outdoor fountains became solely decorative, detached from necessity and driven by aesthetics and entertainment.

This trajectory somehow looks similar to the development in design history: the movement from necessity to ornament, from function to desire. Today‘s collectable design culture echoes the fountain history, where objects are valued not only for utility but also for their capacity to embody aspiration, rarity, and aesthetic excess. So, here is the open question: is this a prediction of the future in design and where will design lead us next?

A huge thanks to the @loewefoundation team for creating an incredible experience and the beautiful exhibition at @museothyssen, the National Museum at the heart of Madrid. Beyond the excitement of being one of the 30 finalists, it has been a valuable time to meet with the other artisans and learn from each of them. It is a very huge encouragement for me to keep moving on craftsmanship, push it further and keep making better works in the future. The Pleats Vase No.7 has been exhibited around in different places in the past year. Before the arrival in Madrid, it was exhibited in Brussels. A big thanks to @spazionobilegallery that's has always been supporting me and my work!

The exhibition @museothyssen will open until 29th June.

Didi NG Wing Yin (@dd_ng) is a Helsinki-based designer who works almost entirely in wood. He grew up and studied industrial and product design in Hong Kong, where he was trained to be “practical and reasonably rational,” before moving to Finland for an MA at Aalto, and he has stayed ever since. Just before the pandemic, he chiselled a feather texture into a plank. “There wasn’t a strong intention to create, but the results have touched my heart.” He had never been a craft person, and the years of practice that followed changed how he thinks as much as what he makes. His work mainly uses wood to create furniture, sculpture and object, as he says “The material is your company, and you negotiate with it.” In 2024 he co-founded Minestrone Workshop, a shared woodworking space in Helsinki, and this October he shows at @asianow in Paris with Spazio Nobile ( @spazionobilegallery ).

| Recap — Crafts on Peel at Homo Faber 2026 |
That’s a wrap! Homo Faber 2026: An Island of Light has officially concluded. A huge thank you to Homo Faber (@homofaber) for the incredible opportunity to showcase Hong Kong talent on a global stage and for facilitating vital discussions on preserving craftsmanship in the modern age.

Inspired by the Venetian lagoon’s archipelago, British artist Es Devlin invited visitors to explore a narrative that unites +700 works by +500 craft artists from across the world, each an island of talent and skill within the wider waters of human talent.

We’re especially proud of Kammy Wong (@shingrealm_bonsai_arts), Leo Wong (@leowongceramics), and Inkgo Lam (@inkgolam) - our Crafts Fellows, who participated in the exhibition as exhibiting artists and demonstrators. What a sight to see their works among so many others!

As part of this year’s Homo Faber Summit, Crafts on Peel’s Creative Director, Penelope Luk, spoke at a panel alongside wonderful leaders, sharing insights on supporting traditional craftsmanship today.

Thank you again to Homo Faber for highlighting the beauty of crafts. Looking forward to your next edition!

圓滿落幕！威尼斯國際工藝雙年展 Homo Faber 2026: An Island of Light 已正式閉幕。衷心感謝 Homo Faber（@homofaber）提供寶貴機會，讓香港工藝登上國際舞台，並促成了一系列關於當代工藝傳承的重要對話。

英國藝術家 Es Devlin 以威尼斯潟湖群島為靈感，邀請觀眾走進一場匯聚全球逾五百位工藝家、超過七百件作品的敘事旅程——每位工藝家如同汪洋中的島嶼，各自綻放才華與技藝。

Spazio Nobile (Brussels) presents Pleats - a duo show of Pat Hui Kao and Didi Ng Wing Yin.

Pleats explores the poetic and structural language of folding as a shared gesture across materials, cultures, and continents. At Asia Now, the exhibition brings into dialogue the works of Pao Hui Kao, a woman artist and designer from Taiwan based in Eindhoven, and Didi Ng Wing Yin, a Hong Kongese designer based in Helsinki. Both artists translate pleating into their respective practices—paper for Kao and wood for Ng Wing Yin—creating a conversation that bridges East and West through material, technique, and sensibility. Pao Hui Kao’s delicate Original and Urushi Paper Pleats evoke lightness and ephemerality, where folds shape space and capture luminous moments. In contrast, Didi Ng Wing Yin carves and splits wood into sculptural pleats, revealing the grain within and conveying strength, permanence, and architectural presence. Together, their works engage in a dialogue between fragility and solidity, surface and structure, tradition and innovation, resulting in a series of collectable vessels and furniture pieces that blur the boundaries between art, design, and cultural expression.

Both have been finalists of the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize, respectively in 2022 and 2025. Spazio Nobile has published Artist Books on both following their duo shows, 25 Seasons and The Nature of Wood.

Spazio Nobile is a contemporary applied and fine arts gallery in Brussels, Belgium, known for its bold exhibitions and commitment to promoting innovative, boundary-pushing work. The gallery presents a range of emerging and established artists and designers from around the world, providing a platform for experimental practices and new creative directions in both fine art and collectable design.

The stool was made of a spruce construction beam. It emphasised the character of spruce. All the carved and burnt marks carry the resistance of the material during making, which presents the natural quality of wood.

Sociedad de la Tierra” es una muestra de diseño y arte contemporáneo. Que nació bajo la curaduría conjunta de la empresa colombiana Vélez (a través de su línea Vélez Artisan) y el estudio de diseño @studio__fango Su propósito fue reflexionar sobre el entorno actual, la geografía y la esencia del territorio colombiano mediante un proceso creativo colaborativo.
