POSTS STORIES REELS

✦ The best time of the year has arrived (even though it’s still literally 80° in Maryland but 🤫)

✦ I picked up another Leuchtturm as an “ugly sketchbook” this year and ended up with two sizes. Hoping to fill both and not just cherish them as the perfect beings they are 🤞🏽

Hope you’re well 🤎

✦ Wanted to share something I’m proud of, which is creating a habit around art making that didn’t require me to feel proud of what resulted, resulting in an ugly/messy/low-pressure/experimental sketchbook full of things I’m actually proud of lol.

I tend to be too precious with my materials and subject matter, so this was a hard pivot. Hoping to continue this practice while also working on more finished work elsewhere.

✦ A WIP with — you guessed it — rapiers! Some of my favorite pieces to work on lately have been sketched out in my Hobonichi and then rendered in Procreate. I somehow stumbled upon the perfect colored pencil/charcoal brushes that are softer than ink and yet deeper than graphite. Really digging the effect and how patient it is with me lol 🖤 Hope you’re well!

✦ More Procreate work. Undoing and brush-changing are vital parts of the process, okay 🙂‍↕️

✦ Swipe for all my indecision lol >>> I know I should be making reels but carousels have always been my favorite way to look at art because I get to zoom into the details 🥰

Another Hobonichi sketch turned Procreate sketch. Really digging this small-grain colored pencil brush from a Sketchbook set I bought a long time ago. I was really into ink on Tomoe River S paper while working in the A6 Hobonichi but lately I’ve been leaving things in col-erase everywhere else. Something about the softer line work speaks to my soul right now 😇

✦ Swipe for process >>> This originally started as a test page for Procreate brushes and turned into something more refined (though still sketchy?)

Where are we getting procreate brushes these days? 👀

✦ A collection of things for a rainy drawtober/artober day 🌧️ (and also a new sketchbook because working in this size is mostly lovely and partially scary) 😌

✦ I’ve been doing a lot of refined sketches using simply Col-Erase colored pencils these days. They don’t easily smudge and build up value very beautifully, and also they last forever. I’m still working on the same 4 or 5 and I’ve had the box for years 😅 by @ddarkoart

✨ Though I won’t be participating in this year’s festivities, here’s a little sketchbook tour from earlier this year when I was working on a daily ink challenge of my own. Can you tell I was reading a lot of dark academia/moody literature? 😅

✨ I’d love to record a full tour sometime when it’s not so grey outside, I’ve been missing the natural light but am grateful to be safe and dry inside my cozy home. Hope you all are too.

Good luck this October 🖤🌙 by @ddarkoart

🍁👋🏽 It’s finally the time of year that I put on my favorite crewnecks and remember I can draw. It’s still 80° but 🤫

Life updates: I left a toxic job in February, did a 100 day drawing challenge, got some sleep, visited Amsterdam, found a better job, and read lots of books (currently at 84).

Hope you’re doing well this year 🥀🫶🏽
