Our name is our name because we really out here beekeeping. There's a huge difference between physically harvesting your honey from jump versus buying honey & reselling it in a branded bottle. Keeping bees and harvesting their honey is a laborious process that can't be rushed or easily scaled. In the 1990s, New York’s microradio movement used FM broadcasting as infrastructure for change. Born from social justice, squatter, and immigrant activism, these stations democratized communication during a period of heightened FCC regulation & corporate media consolidation. With roots as an artist collective embedded in this movement, @WaveFarmRadio supports artists and projects working across broadcast, transmission, and experimental media. This year, @HOSEnewyork + @DeadassBeekeeping begin a long-term project sited in the Wave Farm Art Park, bringing honeybees into the world of transmission art. taken in Acra, New York by @deadassbeekeeping

PEABOY FOR DEADASS BEEKEEPING: Spring/Summer 2026 Uniforms The custom apparel and traveling hand-dye studio @PeaboyPeaboy applied their signature splattered dyeing motif to protective bee suits for @DeadassBeekeeping. The process resulted in beautiful purple and blue tones that perfectly complement the vivid New York summer skies. “Queens has always been in the cut — wedged between Manhattan’s hype, Brooklyn doing the most, and Long Island’s monotony. But it was Queens, with its chaos, noise, and flavor, that raised me. Crowded sidewalks stacked with taquerías, Jamaican bakeries, and dim sum carts. The smell of gyros turning on a spit drifts into roti frying on a griddle. Bubble tea shops sit beside Colombian panaderías, bachata and soca spill from car speakers, domino games slam outside bodegas. Kids tear past with icees dripping down their hands. That rhythm raised me. I’m homesick for the Queens I once knew — before internet culture and constant churn blurred its edges.  These days my life is quieter — tending bees in the Hudson Valley, watching them move like a city of their own. I still pop out every couple of days, slinging honey jars out the trunk like bricks. For me, “WE EARLY” is the Queens code: immigrant hustle, creativity for survival, whole cultures building value before the world gives us credit. Over 800 languages are spoken by New Yorkers from all walks of life. Our boroughs are the world's melting pots. As New York natives, cultural diversity is our baseline - it's these cultures that make up the fibers of our city. by @deadassbeekeeping

As 2020 wraps up, we are grateful for our NYC community that inspired us to launch a honey brand in the midst of a pandemic.
