Ok, this one felt good: woke up this morning to a feature in @dezeen, a leading UK-based architecture magazine. And they let me geek out about dead malls!

I pulled five of my fave recent videos for the article, which I hope might get a few readers curious about malls and their position in the architecture space.

Article is easy to find, but I’ll link it in my story too!

Haven’t played Silent Hill: Townfall yet, still managed to find myself inside it. (aka a Bridlington photo dump!)

One year ago today, Spring Hill Mall looked like something out of an apocalyptic movie.

By August 12, 2025, demolition was well underway, with large sections of the former mall already reduced to rubble while portions of the structure and exterior walls were still standing.

For generations of shoppers in West Dundee, Carpentersville, and the surrounding northwest suburbs, Spring Hill Mall was a major part of the community. Seeing it caught halfway between the mall people remember and the redevelopment taking its place made for one of the more surreal scenes of the demolition.

One year later, this footage is already a snapshot of a landscape that no longer exists.

A fake exterior sign outline was added to Citadel Mall in Charleston, South Carolina for the TV show The Righteous Gemstones. The show is over, but the “Sears label scar” remains.

Walk through Somewhere Nowhere, a forgotten place where the guitar riffs never end.

Sharing the official music video for Darksoft’s “Somewhere Nowhere” today, a collab with @deadmallwalking who filmed this empty Macy’s in its final days. Full video now on YouTube and Spotify.
