Well tomorrow is May Day and here we stand in the New Gilded Age of rising authoritarianism, exploitation, and sown and seeded hatred. Workers, I love you and I am grateful everyday to stand alongside you all. Here is a slice of life lately. Buying eggs from local peddlers, reading Society of the Spectacle, and putting my small dividends in community (credit unions, farmers markets and libraries).

yuletide and capricorn season greetings! tomorrow wraps up the twelve days of yule, might we see the sun once more! winter solstice, remodeling our kitchen, a small tart with 35 trick candles. i hope 2025 can be a more tangible year for us all, an earthy year, a grounding year, a year that brings solidarity amongst neighbors, a cup of sugar and lots of baking, the reinstitution of reciprocity in our villages, a reckoning with dispossession, an honoring of the butcher, the baker, and the candlestick makers. so much in our world is so painfully stark and imbalanced right now, we need congruence so desperately. people in the states need healthcare, fair wages, fair hours, and adequate housing. i hope 2025 is a year of reckoning. where our humanity screams out and demands the end to our exploitation, where we protect ourselves, our earth, and our futures. i hope 2025 brings together working class people so that we might see with clear vision those that choose to steal our labor and realize our ability to create a more just world with all of this excess. let 2025 bring self reliance and determination, let it bring solidarity and mutual aid. let each day remind us of our inherent right to life - be that housing, food, water, or just our time. let 2025 be the year that those who hoard resources whilst others suffer feel the wrath of their own brutality.

a delayed 2023 recap. i spent a bit of time in different places this year, and feel very privileged to have the mobility to do so. visits to utah, vancouver bc, copenhagen, berlin, louisiana, paris, morocco, north carolina, los angeles, vegas, and so many other little towns and cities along the way. i want to say, that traveling, especially solo, these days does give me anxiety and is something i work through by continuing to travel and face my control issues. it does not go unnoticed that as someone with a passport from the states that i float through spaces without much guff, even looking like the little weirdo i am. families denied entry and put to the side - i can’t imagine making and paying for plans that don’t work out, but folks do it every day. i don’t have any grandiose statement about it, just that it’s noticeable and that the anxiety we feel surrounding travel and airports is only a microcosm of the anxieties of what borders do. they keep some people out and they keep others in. it’s surreal and unnerving, increasingly so as our global capitalist market continues to leave unrest in its wake - through the decimation of forests, communities, and ecosystems. for 2024 i want to set in stone my intentions that this is me, that this is my life. this is not one year, this is not just oh it’s been a bad year for this or it’s been a good year for that. it’s been a year, and a lot has changed, somethings for the good and others for the bad. but i have hope. i don’t know what for, but i want to believe. i feel y’all, and i feel at one with all the freaks and beings and weirdos and sweetie pies, and curious darlings, and and and i want things to be better. i want something better for us and for all the future little weirdos that have to exist here and grow here. i want us, the people. i want us empowered, i want us in love, i want us embodied, i just want us. i hate that there are people so far removed from the pulse, it is so alienating to be confronted with. all this said, things hurt but i’m hopeful. i’m jaded but i’m naive. and what it all comes down to is that everything’s going to be quite alright, cause i’ve got one hand in my pocket and the other one’s…. by @deadnettle

did somebody say general strike?

i haven’t been posting for a whole slew of reason, mainly bc there’s so much loss in the world and i don’t have any hot takes. i’m a white person living on turtle island, and all i want is for all working class and poor people to live their best lives and work in solidarity together. i want women and queers of all backgrounds to live their best lives without threat of violence, and certainly without state violence from their own or others powers that be. i want everyone’s basic needs met without hesitation.

my groceries are expensive, my country has shit for public transport, crumbling highways, and tax money that can’t fix our broken healthcare system but can help break down others’. what gives? convenience, i suppose. comfort? certainly. fear? that too.

there’s the big, and of course, the small. i’m experiencing my own personal losses, and even those feel like a privilege with so many never getting the chance to grow old. and i feel kinda old myself. and a bit out of touch from social media, and honestly i kinda doubt many of y’all will see this, with the subject matter and the way i’ve been losing reach, but i’m okay with that. i’m good with a french exit. i think i’ve been putting my time to good use outside of here.

creating content has certainly been a place for me to explore myself and my fashion and my gender expression and progress on my hobbies and whatnot, and for a longtime that was something i was prioritizing, but lately i’m prioritizing other things and other work. some of that requires rebalancing the scales so that i don’t lose my sense of play and activity, which is becoming a challenge working as a researcher and beginning grad school. always recalibrating.

the other reason, and the main one, is i’ve been on here for the community and for all the weirdos that inspire the fuck out of me on here! i love yall! i wish this darn thing showed me more of that, more of y’all! that’s what i’m here for! otherwise, i’m around, just not to the capacity of previous years.

that said, i hope you all are finding ways to fill your cup and are able to find moments of relief and hopefully, joy. 🖤🏴✨ by @deadnettle

here i am ✨

toussaints came and went, but the grief still remains. we are still in a time of upheaval, a time between worlds, between ideals. i think i’m always looking to what working class queer folks have to say about it, no matter the instance. these are reflections of the patriarchy. quests for power that leave people in the lurch. don’t you see? they use the language of liberation against us. it’s never either or - it’s always both!! it’s always we can have both!! we can have safety and liberation. we must end cycles of oppression. realizing that the binaries we create run through everything. humanity as a whole needs so much to heal. from the river to the sea. solidarity y’all 🖤🏴
