“I don’t live for tomorrow, because I’m going to die anyway. So why bother wasting time?” #jimihendrix
A member of the “27 Club” with Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Brian Jones, Robert Johnson and now Kurt Cobain and Amy Winehouse, Hendrix accomplished an incredible amount in the less than four years he was in the spotlight. From 1966-1970, he played over 600 shows, many of them as the headliner of a festival. Hendrix was left-handed, but most of his guitars were right-handed and many assumed he just flipped the guitar and played it upside-down. However, while the guitars may have looked like they were upside-down, Jimi still strung them like left handed-guitars, with the low E string on the top and the high E at the bottom. This very unique setup is part of what gave Hendrix his signature sound. For the record, his father, Al, tried to get Jimi to play the guitar right-handed, as he considered left-handed playing a sign of the devil.

Jimi also had other legendary guitar tricks up his sleeve. While opening for Cat Stevens and Engelbert Humperdinck(!), all the road crews were thinking of ways to one-up each other when a British journalist suggested to Hendrix that, “It’s a pity you can’t set fire to your guitar.” That trick later became a trademark. Hendrix also famously played guitar with his teeth, a technique he stole from obscure blues players he’d seen and heard while touring as a sideman on the Chitlin Ciruit. He could also play guitar behind his back, and by not touching the strings. He was a showman!

Some artwork blends into a room. This one sets the tone.

This N.W.A. commission found its home against a dark, textured wall, where the black vinyl, original labels, and bold group portrait feel completely at ease. The coral seating and patterned rug bring in just enough contrast to make the piece hit even harder without competing with it.

Created from real vintage vinyl records, the work carries the music directly into the composition. From across the room, it reads as one commanding image. Up close, the grooves and labels reveal the individual records behind it.

I always love seeing where a commission ultimately lives especially when the collector’s space has as much confidence as the artwork.

Would you build a room around the art, or choose the art after the room is finished?

The best rooms are not simply decorated they reveal something about the people who live in them.

This commissioned musician portrait found its home in a collector’s kitchen, bringing rhythm, color, and personality into a space built for gathering. Against the clean cabinetry, stone surfaces, and restrained palette, the figure feels even more expressive leaning into the music while the original vinyl labels add small bursts of color throughout the composition.

Created from real vintage vinyl records, the piece changes depending on where you stand. From across the room, it reads as one bold silhouette. Up close, the grooves and labels begin to reveal the music history inside it. All original Miles Davis albums.

I love seeing artwork placed somewhere unexpected, especially when it becomes part of everyday life.

Would you hang a major artwork in your kitchen?

Some cities have a soundtrack. New York has an entire cast.

This piece brings together the drama of Broadway, the glow of the city after dark, and the unmistakable attitude of a classic New York taxi. The Wicked marquee and theatrical details give the scene its personality, while the skyline and reflections make it feel like a moment caught between the final curtain and the ride home.

Created from real vintage vinyl records, the original grooves and labels remain visible throughout the taxi, buildings, street, and signs. Look closely and you will find musical history worked directly into the composition, including records connected to Wicked, chorus line, sound of music, and The Wizard of Oz.

It feels cinematic from a distance, but the closer you get, the more the individual records begin to take over.
Which would catch your attention first in person the taxi, the skyline, or the Wicked marquee?

Some strength does not need to make a sound.

The Weight of Silence is built around that quiet kind of authority the cowboy holding steady above the longhorn, both watchful, controlled, and completely unshaken. The composition feels still, but not passive. There is tension in the pause, as though everything has already been decided without a word being spoken.

Created from real vintage vinyl records, the dark grooves shift with the light while the original labels bring flashes of color through the longhorn’s face, horns, and the figure above. The closer you look, the more detail begins to emerge from the black and white silhouette.

Swipe through to see the records and smaller details inside the composition.

Which carries more power for you: what is said, or what is deliberately left unsaid?

It is difficult to understand the scale of an artwork until someone stands beside it.

At 48" × 48", Cloud Chaser has a very different presence in person than it does on a screen. The figure is nearly life-size, and the original vinyl labels and grooves become more visible as you move closer to the work.

I shared the clean photograph earlier this week, but this view gives a better sense of how substantial the piece actually feels and why scale plays such an important role in the final composition.

Would you place a piece this size in a living room, an entryway, or somewhere completely unexpected?

Some bands become part of the soundtrack. Others become part of the culture.

This Rolling Stones commission was built around that unmistakable presence four faces, decades of music, and the attitude of a band that never needed permission to be loud.

At 30" × 30", the composition is compact but extremely detailed. The portraits are surrounded by real Rolling Stones records, with the original labels and grooves becoming part of the image rather than sitting behind it. From across the room, the band reads immediately. Up close, the individual records and small details begin to reveal themselves.

Completed in 2025, this commission was designed for a collector who wanted the history of the music to remain visible inside the portrait.

Which Rolling Stones song would have to be represented in your version?

Some performers do not simply enter a room, they change its entire temperature. @adamlambert

This large scale Adam Lambert commission was created to capture that kind of presence: theatrical, commanding, polished, and impossible to ignore. The sharp black-and-white portrait is surrounded by purple Velvet vinyl records, giving the background a rich color and intensity that feels inseparable from the subject.
At 60 inches wide, the piece was designed to hold its own in a substantial interior while still rewarding a closer look. The original labels, grooves, and repeated portrait details bring music history directly into the composition without softening its impact.

Completed in January for a designer in Philadelphia, this was one of those commissions where the scale, subject, and materials all needed to feel equally bold.

Which detail pulls you in first, the expression, the microphone, or the purple vinyl?

Some pieces change once they leave the studio—not because the artwork is different, but because the right space reveals a new side of it.

Champagne Trouble has officially found her place. Against the clean architecture, strong pattern, and restrained black-and-white palette, she feels exactly as she should: confident, composed, and just disruptive enough.

I especially love seeing how a collector lives with the work and makes it part of the character of their home.

Do you choose artwork to complement a room—or would you build the room around the right piece?

Some people look at the sky. Others are already deciding how to get there.

Cloud Chaser is about that restless kind of ambition—the part of us that refuses to stay grounded just because everyone else has made peace with the view. There is confidence in her upward gaze, but also curiosity, escape, and the quiet belief that something better might be waiting just beyond reach.

At 48" x 48", the figure has a presence that feels both nostalgic and futuristic. He is created from real vintage vinyl records, with the original labels and grooves becoming part of her identity—fragments of music from the past reshaped into someone looking toward what comes next.

Maybe chasing clouds is not about being unrealistic. Maybe it is about refusing to stop imagining.

What is something you are still determined to reach?
