On April 9, My Nana Transitioned🪽

For the last 3 years I’ve helped be her Caregiver. I thank God for equipping me with strength I didn’t even know I had, to give her, her last care.

My Nana had Dementia, although she didn’t know who I was, we became closer.

I had the opportunity to share these words at her Homegoing, I hope they can serve as a Reminder ✨

I have a unique and maybe even rare testimony that dementia did the opposite. Instead of it taking away my Nana from me it brought her closer.

As I was doing devotion to prepare for her Homegoing,
I came across a verse that describes this testimony.

“As when juice is still found in a cluster of
grapes and people say, ‘Don’t destroy it, there is still a blessing in it”

Unfortunate circumstances doesn’t mean Gods blessings are no longer there. It’s in times of unfortunate circumstances that I believe we can see God’s love for us even more.

I created a list of some of the blessings dementia gave me:

1. My Nana went from living out of state to living 5-10 mins from me
2. Visits use to be far and in between to me seeing her weekly
3. Playing salon with her, doing her hair and nails (I even did her nails for her Homegoing)
5. Family trips
6. Celebrating holidays and birthdays together
7. And My favorite, becoming dance partners

I didn’t need her to know who I was to know I was blessed by her love. The way she said “I love you too” was enough.

“Love remembers even when the mind cannot”

And I hope you remember that just like the grapes at the bottom of the bag still produce juice. You are not too dirty or damage for God to use you for His Glory.

The sacrifices you’ve made, the unconditional love you’ve given, the selflessness you’ve shown time and time again, has earned you an abundance in God’s favor!
