We welcomed the phenomenal poet, performer and facilitator @deannarodger to @cliftoncollegeuk earlier this week.

Deanna’s presentation took this year’s Black History Month theme as inspiration: Honouring Our Communities, exploring how the power of poetry connects our communities and histories.

Sport was always something I was good at. A direction for quick mind, team spirit and competitiveness. It amplified my leadership qualities.

With three girls of my own I am all too aware of the stigma around girls in sport - the gendered assumptions made of my super speedy springy middle girl, the reservations and hesitation of my long-limbed growing-by-the-minute eldest.

Be strong, be fast, be determined, I tell them. Practice and play and loose your breath in the chase.
Fly over grass, tarmac, sand.
Your playground, this city, this land.
Plant your feet steady, ready? On your mark, make your mark, let’s go.

Its a random assortment cos I didn't realise that uploading pics from my laptop then eliminated choice. & I can't be asked to scroll and sort.

One week to go until my and @emmapowelletc share some initial thoughts following our first quarter of Forkbeard Fantasy Award residency @uobtheatrecollection. Trying not to put too much pressure on this process. We do have a year!

Working with your mate is quite simply, great. And there are guardrails to put in - care and respect of each other’s time and profession. We are experts in what we do, masters and welding it together feels like a forging of the most magic.

Emma and her crew looked after Esme whilst I gave birth to Asha. So perhaps thats why these are here, relationships (friends, family, community) are inherently a creative and magic process . by @deannarodger

It’s my PAYE role office day, I love this day! @bovtsbristol I am hyper organised (and chaotic) and always have been as a freelancer. I wanted to understand these skills in the context of an organisation. Where are the gaps in my systems? How do I build and maintain relationships with schools and orgs across and beyond Bristol? Where might my freelancer innovation be well placed? Part time so space to spin, but certain and appraised. But first the dentist … :/// living an element of my dream life everyday ???

It just so happened that this morning Helen at @arvon__ lumbbank sent the last two years anthologies from the most brilliant school I’ve worked with. It’s been a treat to re-read these poems and stories in the dentist waiting room. Here are some photos from my most recent visit. Oooooh today I get to share something I haven’t given much spotlight to on here yet - Creative Facilitation Training has been gratefully refunded by the Arts Council National Lottery Project Grant and It is exploring itself as a nationwide and digital program. This morning I got to lay the foundations with the great thinker and UX designer Florence Okoye. We went to school together and I admired her - clever, cool and collected. Being able to look back at that time and reflect on our individual and shared experiences of it and looking to the future of where out journeys have led us in UX design, writing and facilitation is most certainly living an element of my dream life everyday (even if it is only for three hours before nursery pick up!) x

It is my eldest daughter’s birthday!!!!!!! She’s so bold and bright and beautiful and I love and adore her. It could just be pics of my kids for this series of living an element of my dream life everyday
this is a throwback to when I passed over a @thenorthfaceuk job so that I could celebrate my husband’s 30th birthday in the late district whilst seven months pregnant.

we thought we’d do the photo shoot anyway 🩵
I lost this jacket on that trip, but I’ve still got the walking boots.

sometimes the pull between work and Family can feel so hard. Sometimes all I wanna do is work. But sometimes all I wanna do is watch Teletubbies on the sofa. But they feed each other as much as they take away from one another. by @deannarodger

Hosting these rehearsed readings for @nationaltheatre #newviews means the world. Being able to read six plays and consider how to hold them together for an audience. Recognizing the profound impact of opportunity- not just this showcase but the positive influence of a deadline on an idea! 💡
