Children do not wait until they are teenagers to feel favoritism, rejection, or pain. A child as young as five years can sense when things are not right in the home.

When our preteens (ages 7–12) tell us: “Mummy, you love him more,” or “You always take her side,”do not dismiss them. Dismissing their pain tells them that their hurt doesn’t matter. Over time, that hurt turns into sibling resentment.

How do you handle it when one of your children feels left out?

Dear Sibling, still in the spirit of the independence day!

Yes, we must keep holding our leaders accountable. But while we do that, we also have one major job at home: raising individuals who won’t give us headaches tomorrow!

Because let’s be honest: some things we see in society didn’t start in the offices or streets. It started at the dining table with two siblings fighting dirty over the last piece of meat!

If children grow up bitter and divided under the same roof, how will they lead with integrity and empathy tomorrow? A divided home only creates a divided nation.

That’s why this October, we are focusing on building strong, healthy bonds between our preteens (ages 8–12).

If we want a better nation tomorrow, we must raise better leaders at home today. by @dear__sibling

Dear Older Sibling, you are not your sibling’s parent but you sure influence them positively or negatively… where do you stand?

Dear firstborn sibling,

You may not be your younger sibling’s parent, and you’re not meant to be.

But whether you realise it or not, you have influence over them.

So, be intentional with that influence.

You don’t have to be perfect. You don’t have to carry everyone. But where you can, be a good example, guide them, protect them, and help them become better.

Dear Sibling, Our parents may have tried their best to give us the good foundation, but as we grow, keeping the sibling relationship alive becomes our responsibility too.

Not as pressure or a burden, but intentionality.

And I’m grateful to @alrightspassion for reminding me that passions grow better when we don’t have to build alone.

You don’t have to be best friends with your sibling.

But if you can build a good relationship with them, it’s worth it. And honestly, you’ll be glad you did.

Life won’t always look like it does now. You’ll grow, start working, build your own home, have a career, get married, have children… and life will take you both in different directions.

But through all those seasons, you’ll still have each other.

So while you have the opportunity, build the relationship. Make the memories. Learn to understand each other. Give each other room to grow.

One day, you will be grateful you did.

Remember when you and your siblings used to gist, play, fight, laugh… basically do everything together? 😂

Then school happened. Boarding school. University. Different schedules. New friends.

And somehow, you just stopped being as close.

It doesn’t have to be that way.

This school year, let’s be intentional about checking in, making time and keeping that sibling bond alive—even when you’re far apart. ❤️

Back to school, still siblings.

School is back!

New classes, new friends, new routines, and for some of us, a sibling is leaving home for boarding school or university.

And in the middle of all these changes, it’s easy for siblings to get caught up in their own worlds.

But this month, we’re asking a simple question:

How do we stay connected as siblings when school starts again?

Because going back to school shouldn’t mean growing apart.

This September, we’ll be talking about the little things that can make a big difference; checking in, staying connected, supporting each other, handling what comes home from school, and simply reminding your sibling:

“I’ve still got you.”

Because…

It’s back to school, but we are still siblings. 💙

Dear sibling-in-law,

You don’t need to test your sibling’s spouse.
Marriage is already a big adjustment. Your sibling may be amazing, kind, generous and loving to you but they are not perfect, and being a good sibling does not automatically mean they are a perfect spouse.

So, instead of trying to catch your in-law off guard or looking for ways to “test” them, how about asking a different question when you have those family moments:

“Do you think marrying my brother/sister was a good choice?”

They may laugh. They may dodge the question. They may say, “Please, leave me!” 😂
But sometimes, that simple question can create room for an honest conversation.

And if they trust you enough to open up, listen without immediately becoming defensive on behalf of your sibling.

If there are things your sibling needs to work on, you can lovingly speak to them.
If there are things their spouse needs to understand better, you can respectfully guide them too.

Because being family should not mean becoming an investigator, a judge or a destabilising force in someone’s marriage.

You have access to your sibling that their spouse may not have. Use that access to build, not destroy.

Give wisdom. Give perspective. Give support.
Don’t create unnecessary battles.

Sometimes, the best thing a sibling can do for their married brother or sister is not to protect them from every uncomfortable conversation but to help them become a better spouse.

Healthy sibling relationships should make marriages stronger, not harder.

Married people, why are you people spoiling this “transparency” thing? 😂

Yes, be honest with your spouse—but please draw the line between transparency and gossip. Not every sibling’s gist needs to become pillow talk. 😭😂
