Am so glad a picture book biography has finally been published talking about this incredible prolific artist - of course I have mixed feelings as this story on Edward Lear I chose to do because I had researched and not seen any picture book biography s on him - and I have been immersed in his world for a year to create this book for my final degree project but am so pleased his genius has been recognised and hope he will go on to inspire young people everywhere and who better to illustrate than the wonderful creative talent that is Laura Carlin! by @dearedwardlear

Edward Lear once got surprised by a crocodile in a sand bank near the river Nile in Egypt - its was lucky he had a friend to help protect him! - in my story Edward Lear is an owl and his dear friend a crane - I have imagined how he would protect him from the crocodile - what would you do? by @dearedwardlear

Edward Lear had a lot energy and passion it sometimes he had low moods too ….havjing a friend to talk to can really helps us sometimes to help understand how we feel and know that it’s going to be okay by @dearedwardlear

Imagine being able to do so many things! Edward Lear was a very creative person - who painted - drew - played music - wrote poems as well as lots of travelling? Would you like to try any of these things? by @dearedwardlear

The colours of the peacock inspired the Victorians who used their vibrant colours for their fashionable clothes - we know Edward Lear always dressed smartly , but in Victorian times the photographs were only black and white- I wonder whether he chose to where bright accessories inspired by his journeys ? by @dearedwardlear

Edward Lear used to take a lot of luggage in his journeys - amongst other things a roll up bed, pots and pans and a hat box!! And of course - lots of art supplies so he could paint! by @dearedwardlear

Edward Lear visited Egypt and the Ramses Heads - he talks in his journals at how he had to crawl round inside on all fours as it was so dark and he suffered from poor eyesight - by @dearedwardlear

Edward Lear was very good at painting birds - although the stopped painting them when he went travelling, he would always talk about all the different birds he saw and used them as characters in his nonsense work by @dearedwardlear

Lear painted and published a book about parrots at just 19 years of age - he was so good at painting birds and painted many that he has even had a parrot named after him ! by @dearedwardlear
