A room full of artists, collectors, curators, founders, and people who simply wanted to understand the art world a little better.

We asked the questions. We shared what we know. We challenged ideas. We made connections. And somewhere between the stage, the hallways, and the conversations in between, GloryLand Year 2 became exactly what we hoped it would be.

A place to learn the art world with the people living it.

Thank you to every panelist, partner, attendee, and person who helped fill this room.

This was Education Day at GloryLand ’26. Houston, Texas.

A huge thank you to our sponsors and partners: Swain’s | The Market Institution, Obsidian, UOVO, Untitled Art, PaperCity, Swenshots Studio House, and Hotel Saint Augustine.

Very special thanks to @shaymone and @thesstudiohouse for providing such cozy furniture!! by @deargloryworld

We spent time at Untitled Art, Houston with PaperCity, walking the fair, experiencing the work, meeting galleries, and taking in the energy surrounding art in Houston right now.

We stopped by Library Street Collective, Kavi Gupta, and RÉFUSES - just a few of the galleries bringing incredible work to Houston this week.

Untitled Art, Houston runs October 2–4 at the George R. Brown Convention Center, so if you’re in the city this weekend, go experience the fair. See the work in person. Talk to the galleries. Meet the artists. Find something you love.

And while you’re here, join us for GloryLand ’26—conversations, collecting, community, and the people shaping the art world.

Go see some art. Meet somebody new. Be part of it. by @deargloryworld

I sat down with Derrick Adams (@derrickadamsny) and Dexter Wimberly (@dexterwimberly) to talk about what it actually takes to build a career on your own terms.

What it means to make work rooted in Black joy when the art world is actively rewarding pain.

What it costs to know the value of what you’re building before anyone else can see it. And what happens when you hold that conviction long enough for the world to finally catch up.

This is not the version of this conversation you’ve read before.

This is the one underneath all of that.

View Master — Derrick’s mid-career survey — is on view now at ICA Boston through September 7th. Curated by Dexter Wimberly, Guest Curator, and Tessa Bachi Haas, Assistant Curator, ICA/Boston. Go see it in person.

Full conversation dropping This Thursday (May 7th @ 6:00 PM CT) on Dear Glory. 🖤

Your gallerist wants to move from forty percent to fifty.

Before you answer, get clear on why you’re entering this conversation at all.

Sit down and take honest account of what this gallery has done for you. Have they produced. Did they bring you the collectors you have now, or did you walk in with them. Have they put real marketing behind you. Have they taken you to fairs. What has the visibility itself been worth, the eyes on your work that you did not have to go find yourself. Put a number on that one, because it is worth something and most artists never price it. Did they do the things they said they were going to do when you signed on.

Then do the same thing in the other direction. What have you brought them. What does your work do for their program. What have you built on your side. by @deargloryworld

In Thirty seven days from now you’ll be walking into GloryLand. (Houston, Texas)

October 2nd you spend the whole day with people who built real careers in this business. They ran into every wall the art world puts up and got past them anyway.

Don’t lose ten years trying to succeed in the art world by yourself.

Understanding the art market is one thing. Doing something with it is another. GloryLand gives you both.

Panelists announced very soon.

October 1st - 3rd, Houston. Glorylandarts.com.

Almost half of serious collectors bought directly from an artist’s studio last year according to the Art Basel and UBS Collectors Survey. Gallery representation is still the goal. But waiting on it is no longer your only option. Your studio is a point of sale right now.

Why are galleries not paying artists??? Are they spending the money. You know, Robbing Peter to pay Paul!?? Or are we witnessing what happens when artists sign bad contracts.. or perhaps there are no contracts in place at all.. are we out here just hoping everyone has good moral!? What’s happening.

I would genuinely like to see the agreements and study where the relationship may have fallen apart. by @deargloryworld

The art world has a playbook. The problem? Too many people are keeping it behind closed doors.

That’s exactly what Moriah Alise is working to change with Dear Glory, her platform making the art world’s strategy, language, and relationships more accessible to artists, collectors, and cultural workers.

From building systems that can withstand sudden visibility to navigating relationships and representation, Moriah is breaking down the tools artists need to move with intention.

With GloryLand returning to Houston October 1–3, that mission is coming to life with three days of education, community, and access.

We’re 7 days away from GloryLand and I’ve been thinking a lot about what it means to keep building something you believe should exist.

GloryLand isn’t easy to make happen. There are still things being figured out, things changing, things I wish I had more resources for—and somehow, every year, we keep going.

Because I believe these conversations matter.

I believe artists deserve to understand the world they’re trying to build careers in. I believe we need more opportunities to actually meet each other, ask difficult questions, exchange ideas, and hear directly from the people working across this industry.

And every time I walk into this room empty, I think about what it’s going to feel like when you’re all here.

That’s the part that keeps me going.

We’re almost there.
