. . . is celebrating hispanic heritage month 💃🏽🇩🇴🇵🇷

hispanic heritage month is from september 15th to october 15th. if you haven’t yet, i encourage you to pick up a book from a latinx author from your local library or bookstore 🙌🏼

it’s been awhile since i’ve talked about renata on here. she’s the first fmc i created to be of hispanic origin and although her story is shelved for now, i’m still actively working on it (i have a toxic love-hate relationship with the mmc, aleksei, which means that this wip is forever on my mind 🤪). i had felt pressure to write this book quickly because the dystopian genre is having a moment, but this story deserves the time to marinate in order to become the best version it can be. so, you might hear more of this wip and ren from time to time as this story continues to evolve 🩵

did i plan for both stories’ main couples to have the initials R+A? nope! it just ended up that way once i changed rosa’s name 🤭

. . . is slowly recovering from burnout

this is a bit of an impromptu post (might delete it later 🤪). while i didn’t expect to take a hiatus of sorts, i felt guilty coming on here and not having the heart to support others due to the inexplainable exhaustion i felt. i don’t know how active i’ll be on here in the upcoming months, but i’m going to try. i love giving support to my fellow authors and i want to try and move past this burnout now. here’s to hoping pumpkin spice szn breathes life back into me 🎃🧡

august is the love interest for amaranthine. while his pov is sparse and was an unexpected edition, i’ve really loved incorporating his thoughts and interpreting some of rosafière’s memories through a different lens^^ part of me has been intimidated to write him, but i have a better grasp on him now and i hope to have many more of his scenes written out soon~💗

. . . with a title reveal 👀

it was fun to imagine what future possible 1⭐️ reviews would say 🤪 i remember the first negative comment i received on a fanfiction back was i was in my early teens. back then, that comment that ended in “blahhh horrible” felt life-shattering (though, tbf, their confusion and dislike for that fanfiction is 1000% valid loll). now, around fifteen(?) years later, that comment is lovingly sitting in my camera roll 🤭

i know amaranthine won’t be for everyone, but she’s for me and that’s really all that matters. it’s been really refreshing to see how easily rosa’s voice translates into the page and i hope she will find her readers someday~❤️

as someone who’s been fortunate to find many online writing communities, there was still some part of me that felt writing was a bit lonesome. a dear friend of mine found caitlyn’s post looking for nyc-based writers and i’m so glad i was able to find such a lovely group of women to bond with! there’s nothing like being able to meet in-person with a group of wonderful people and yap about our wips, favorite reads and gush over noa’s cookies 🤭💕

. . . chronically adds songs to her wip playlists 🎶

i’ve always been jealous of writers who could keep their wip playlists short and sweet. i could never… i even have a spreadsheet justifying why each song is on the playlist (i made it to try and cut some songs… you can see how well that’s going. though, in my defense, a lot of good music has come out in recent months!!

i love these eight songs the most out of all the songs i’ve added to the playlist this month. though, there were some songs i really love that couldn’t make this list because they were added in may 🥲

don’t hate the girl, just hate the crime 💋

rosa is possibly the first fmc i let myself be completely free with while writing. she’s unapologetic in her faults and allows herself to experience her emotions fully, despite people telling her she’s “too much”. i know her personality won’t be for everyone and that’s okay, but i hope you will at least give her a chance to grow on you 🥺✨

fun fact about august: while his character came later in the planning process, his name was actually nathan’s first 🫢 back when his character was meant to be the mmc/love interest! august is a yearner through and through. please forgive rosa for the torment she’s gonna cause this man (trust me, he wants to be there!! he loves a lil ✨drama✨)

despite being all things awful, nathan is my favorite character to write. the concept of having a villain as a “love interest” came from my obsession with songs about toxic relationships (need song recs? i have plenty 🤭). his dialogue comes the easiest and i truly love to find ways to make him worse. my critique partner will accuse me of having a favorite, but it’s not my fault i have a soft spot for toxic characters 🥺
