Had a blast at the @w.a.r._rifles shootout at @geissele mountain. Being my 2nd pro match, I went in with the goal of just making incremental improvements, focusing on my process and stage planning, and making better wind calls & corrections. Happy to say that I achieved that with the most single day impacts ive ever had (10 stages) and didnt make any errors in prop/target order or any other mental mistakes for that matter.

We shot 15 stages on day one, and 5 today in some rough weather conditions. Still learning my new rifle and caliber but happy to say it tracked and operated well all weekend.

I finished 42nd overall with 144/62
The majority of my misses were wrong wind calls and improper corrections, with the slow bleed of 1, 2, 3, drops per stage adding up. There were a few stages that beat me, but overall its a great feeling to turn the corner and expect to get the hits on every stage. Need to start cleaning more stages than just the prs barricade.

Cant thank the geissele and war rifles crew enough, all the ROs and all the great friends that make this sport amazing. by @death_wind1

@brody__556 and I took 5th place at the Legacy team sniper match at @benfranklinrange.

it was a great match as always, with a lot of great shooters.

Saturday night I came down with a head cold or something, barely slept and struggled through sunday. But we persevered and managed to not erase most of our progress from saturday.

Our rifles and gear were dialed and worked well all weekend. Couldnt ask for better friends and a better partner. The @sniper_team_series is probably the most challenging and most fun match format. Looking forward to the next one by @death_wind1

First 50 pokes on the new 6 creed with the new @praecore target. Free for download at praecore.com

First few groups were a little big but tightened up nicely. Major difference going from 6.5 to 6 creed. There were some giddy laughs by @death_wind1

8th in tac, 22nd overall at @geissele gas gun on saturday. It was a great match, shot what felt like my best gas gun match with only 6 penalties. There were a lot of great shooters out there, and what Drew @w.a.r._rifles is doing with that series, i feel is rapidly elevating the skill level of America's shooters. Challenging targetry and courses of fire with a mix of precision, movement, and 2 gun style stages. The best part was getting to see some buddies @chip9923 and @nnivk again. by @death_wind1

Well I decided to shoot a large frame gas gun (for the first time ever) in the PRS northeast regional finale, which was the hardest match that I and everyone else I talked to has ever shot. The gross majority of targets were sub MOA and the wind was as crazy as ive ever seen. For example 900 some yard 66% ipsc, held 1.5 left, .2 off left edge. Held 1.2 left, was 1.5 off right edge. It was like that all day. Absolute ball buster of a match. But it was great. Had one kick ass stage, and the rest was a knife fight.

On to the next one! by @death_wind1

Couple pics from the @petersoncartridge challenge at @mkm_precision

It was my first pro match, and they set the bar high. Great venue, great support and staff, and a very challenging course of fire.

This was a really fun stage, engage from tires then prone inside a tire. i dropped the first shot from too bold of a wind call, saw it and stitched them up the rest of the way. Already looking forward to next year! by @death_wind1

A few more takeaways from this match,

Precision shooting is you vs your equipment and the environment, it's not ideal to try new things at a match, and you need to have a pre stage checklist that you adhere to.

I used this @leupoldoptics mark 4 for the first time at this match, and while I really liked it, it was my first time not having a capped windage. On this wire spool stage, I believe coming out of the first prop I bumped the wind dial, and dialed .8 R into the gun. This had devastating effects for the rest of the stage, but the failure on my part is that I didnt recognize this for another 3 stages.

It was the rooftop stage, and I noticed the holds required in the 3-5 mph wind to make impacts were ridiculously vicious, so i ran to the zero board, and saw that my dial was not locked out.

In spite of that, It was my highest placement in a gas gun match, which I'm pleased with because it shows that im seeing down range effects and making corrections, but I could of done much better if only I knew my equipment and was disciplined with my pre stage checklist. by @death_wind1

Here's a stage from the last @geissele gas gun match.
Couple takeaways here, gas gun matches are loud and spotting impacts can be hard, especially on large plates that aren't very reactive. These were 2 kyl racks, I think the first target was close to a full size ipsc, at least 66%. Not sure what happened with the spotter, someone was in his way or something but I burned a lifetime shooting at this target and it cost me to time out and take penalties for not engaging the final targets. For me, I was pretty shocked it wasnt a 1st round impact, I should of done better to watch and try to see effects on target, and if it was a miss, try to see that splash. But every other target (which were increasingly smaller) seemed to be easy to hit. And for squads and new spotters going forward, dont do the I got this target and you got this target shit, you need multiple spotters on every target. If you cant pan the course of fire on glass within the par time you should seek some training. I only bring it up because it was a reoccurring conversation between a few individuals throughout the day. And finally, spotting and panning from target to target is FREE REPS on finding TRPs and stage planning for when it is your turn to shoot. by @death_wind1

Another banger gas gun match with the boys. Thanks @evolution_training_solutions for the photos. Wind was low speed but very switchy today, some small targets and quite a bit of movement kept everyone honest. First time using the @leupoldoptics mark 4 and I was pretty pleased with it. by @death_wind1
