Into the green
Acrylic on canvas.

This is a recent work. I love the easeful attention my brain has when I paint. I can hit pause on my thoughts and focus on making marks in whatever way my brain chooses. šŸ’š #abstractArt #AcrylicPaint #Canvas #Artist

In 2020 I got an opportunity to co-author a chapter called ā€˜sustainability and the supply chain’ for a new academic book ā€˜Fashion Marketing In Emerging Economies’. Finally the hard copy has arrived and I can share it with you.
*
A few of the areas I discuss are:

-Green marketing, greenwashing, net green and the rebound effect

-Sustainable supply chains in emerging economies - A case study on Indian cotton farming

-Collaborative business strategies in emerging economies- A case study on Indian cotton collaborations
*
The chapter features an interview with Anita Chester head of sustainable raw materials at the Laudes Foundation. Chester states ā€˜Part of our work at Laudes is creating an environment where interconnected thinking underpins the strategy, allows for system change to include farmers ā€˜having a seat at the table’ and redresses the power balance’.

I interrogate the concept of the rebound effect (relating to citizen behaviour) and how understanding its impact may support a move toward ā€˜responsible marketing’ as opposed to ā€˜green marketing’.

I evolve the definition of greenwashing by using the concept of ā€˜net green’ (which was outlined by Zink & Geyer in a paper from 2016,) while honouring the original Westerveld definition.

A huge thanks to co-author and colleague Linda Mackie @fieldplaykids for keeping me sane during the process, and to Editor @fbrooksworth who gave us the opportunity to contribute to such an important book. Do check out Frederica’s groundbreaking work in promoting African fashion and education beyond this book. And to fellow editors Emmanuel Mogaji, PhD. and GenevieĢ€ve Bosah, Ph.D Chart.PR

ā€˜Don’t Look Back In Anger’
Yesterday morning I saw the first screening of ā€˜Don’t Look Back In Anger
It took me back to last summer August 3rd Wembley.
This film is about so much more than two brothers 15 year feud.
It’s about how the music makes us feel, the lyrics, the energy, the atmosphere, the memories, the connections to each other. It’s about not being able to forgive, and being able to forgive. It’s about difference, and embracing that difference. It’s about coming together to feel collective joy. It’s about heritage and poverty, it’s about gentrification, it’s about LOVE. It’s about fans and what the music means to them.
And so much more.

In May 2021 I listened to Professor Jason Arday give a Ted X talk about his extraordinary life. Such a powerful and engaging talk. ā¤ļø I was so shocked to hear of his tragic death last night. The way Mr Arday has been treated by the media during his tenure at Cambridge is an abomination.
**Rest in power Mr Arday. What a devastating loss to the family. šŸ’”šŸ’”

One last time with Pep, Bernie, and John. 🩵😭 We cried, we smiled. We were ecstatic it happened. What an era, what a decade. Beyond all our wildest imaginings. āš½ļøšŸ©µ My Dad was with me in the city memorial garden watching on. Just like when we watched our last game at Maine Road Dad, we lost. 🫣 But that’s City. 🩵 This chapter is now closed. City will live on without you Dad. by @deborah_campbell1

Saturday 16th May. We Won the FA cup. 🩵🩵The last two seasons I’ve made time to go to as many games as I can afford, money and time wise. At the end of this game Pep had a different energy. Standing back and taking it all in. I felt it and I sensed this could be his last season, last time at Wembley. His energy was a bit similar to his first wins in charge. He was pushed by Bernardo and Rodri to take the trophy right below us. I was glad because with the feeling of things coming to an end I wanted to capture the moment. There is so much to say about this era of Manchester City under Pep. For now I want to say a massive thankyou. Football was something me and my Dad shared a love for. My Dad died in October 2024, his ashes are at the memorial garden at the Etihad. He loved City so much. If it is Pep’s last season, thanks @pepteam you are a phenomenal human. @mancity what an era 🩵 by @deborah_campbell1
