Sometimes plein airs work, it certainly doesn’t happen every time but when it does it feels like a little bit of magic ✨

I’m taking some time to play and experiment, without expectations. I’m interested in exploring transparency and layers and how to best get the effects I’m imagining in my head…

Meet the Artist (Claire Decicaco)

Original works available on The Minories Online Shop, link in Bio.

Claire (deciacco_art) is a landscape artist working predominantly in oils. A self taught, emerging artist with a particular love of working En Plein Air (painting from life outside) using a limited palette, Claire also works up larger pieces from studies and photographic references in the studio.

The unique Essex coast and countryside where she lives hold a special interest, with the aim of capturing the fleeting light, documenting a moment in time and the essence of the landscape that she loves.

The latest ‘Then and Now’ @colchester_art_society exhibition is now open @theminories and it is looking fantastic. Open until 27 September. I have an oil on canvas included of the West Bergholt farmland. What a great job they have done, especially @denisamansfieldart who is the new exhibition officer 🙌🏻 by @deciacco_art

By a supreme stroke of luck I happened to be staying in Glencoe, Scotland whilst the semi final of Landscape Artist of the year was being filmed opposite my holiday house (only my fave programme of all time). So, I had the pleasure of painting near the artist pods and enjoying the incredible scenery, and watching the very talented artists at work. What a pleasure! Can’t show pics of the pods or their artworks so you’ll have to suffice with my effort!

Painting at the magical @oldhallcommunity to celebrate Constable at 250. It was a fantastic day - a little oasis with beautiful gardens, perfect weather, interesting people and fresh hand made scones.

Had the absolute pleasure of meeting @deciacco_art yesterday during my impromptu visit to @thesentinelgallery , and I’m so glad I popped in! Because what’s better than great art and great conversation? 🎨✨

Claire has a beautiful range of work on display, with a mixture of smaller original pieces and larger framed works.

While many of the paintings are landscapes, it’s fascinating to see the variety within them, with some created in the studio and others painted en plein air.

She also has some gorgeous little abstract pieces and smaller original landscapes on display which would make gorgeous little gifts 👀

If you’re looking for something to do over the next few weeks, I’d definitely recommend popping down to see the work for yourself.

It’s well worth a visit, and if you’re lucky, you might even get the chance to chat with Claire about her practice too, if you get down this weekend !! 💫🖼️ taken in The Sentinel Gallery by @deciacco_art

I’m currently exhibiting a lot of my work @thesentinelgallery in Wivenhoe, on until June 28th. It has been wonderful to see my work displayed all together in one space, this feels like the culmination of three years hard (but fun) work since I started landscape painting. I only paint evenings and weekends and fit it around a pretty busy life, so I’m taking a moment to pat myself on the back and recognise this as the realisation of a long held ambition to be an ‘artist’. Thank you to everyone who has supported me thus far 🤍

Opening tomorrow evening and running through the bank holiday weekend in beautiful sunny Dedham is the @dedhamartsociety Summer exhibition at Duchy Barn. I am delighted to have a couple of plein air paintings in this, and in a coming together of the day job and the side hustle I also designed the leaflets for what promises to be a fantastic exhibition 🤩 by @deciacco_art

Next up in my busy May art schedule is the Spring Open exhibition of 6 artists @thesentinelgallery in Wivenhoe. I’m really looking forward to this, it runs for 7 weeks and I have the chance to exhibit multiple paintings, if you want to see (and maybe even buy) my work in person this is a good opportunity 😊. The gallery is open Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 19 May - 28 June. Hope you can come along and take a look, it promises to be excellent and the town is a wonderful place for a walk/pub lunch.
