matching music to visuals has always been a deep passion of mine, and somehow there’s always a magic connection and timing to it. either the lyrics match the video or it elevates the song to a new level. it makes me realize that the interest is more about story telling. I found this randomly online, no info no history. it reminds of del toro and Dali forsure but there is also something liminal and tangential. a dream outside of dream.
I’m gonna release this song as part of project that will focus on these dreamlike sounds and stories.

**OUT NOW** Our next song “In The Night” is coming early Tuesday. After some amazing days of making new music we are so back and feeling revitalized and excited for the future. Still so much to give you, we’re trying to do it right and with intent. Our first song Mad iLL has surpassed 10k listens and it’s just a testament that people are catching on.

Battered has been out for a few weeks now and it felt like a good time to reflect on what this song really means to me. Christian wrote this song a while back and we’ve been making music together a long time now. But despite the history it still feels like such an honor to be apart of a song like this. Christian is more than capable of playing and singing this song by himself, but letting me play guitar and sit back while he pours his heart and soul into the words is a testament to how deep our roots have grown. Our first trip to the coast both of us were in very heartbroken state, and we played this song over and over. Looking back on it now it feels like it was the start of a new chapter, the beginning of a process of healing.
All in all, battered was the start of the Temple Strays.

the crux of creation falls upon validation more often than not. working towards a space of being heard & negating self doubt. it seems, at times, that every move you make is second guessed. it’s a constant battle that’s never won.

the vulnerability of being creative and sharing the deepest, darkest parts parts of yourself is both invigorating and debilitating.
seeking reassurance for what? and by who?

where does it start and stop?
is recognition ever enough?

i feel like we all just want to be seen at the end of the day. approval from the ones closest to us should be the goal. but these people are the ones that you’ve built up time and time again, and failed in the worst ways.

the cycle is built upon hope & redemption, love & defeat, shame & validation, honor & purpose. we ignore the intricacies that the jaws of mental health and addiction dig into you.

we’re always striving to be better.
