POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Last night at Town Hall Theatre Galway
LIFE SUPPORT.

A powerful, deeply moving and compulsory viewing.

A firsthand record of genocide, told from a place where aid is blocked and journalists are banned and murdered. When no one else can get in, these are the voices that remain.

Through their own eyes and unflinching footage, we witness the heart and humanity of healthcare workers holding it together in the most impossible conditions, bombed out hospitals, with almost nothing left, facing starvation and a constant wave of casualties, so many of them children. It closes with the words of Alaa Alqaisi a beautiful, haunting poem that broke all our hearts read by Irish actor Denise Gough @denisegough1

Such a privilege to hear from Dr Victoria Rose, @rosieplasticsurgeon Professor Nick Maynard @nickmaynard.surgeon and Ala Alqaisi @alaaqalqaisi in the Q&A, moderated by Dr Afif El Khuffash. @afif.elkhuffash

Huge thank you to the wonderful gang at @pilgrimsforpalestine @steps4peace and @pressurecookerarts for bringing this vital film to Galway.

This is a final appeal, from the heart. 💚
To our Irish players — we love this team, and we love what it means to wear that green jersey.
Ireland has always stood for justice and solidarity. Today we are asking you to stand with the children of Gaza who can’t go to school and can’t play.

Please don’t play today.
Stop the game. @faireland

It was so amazing to meet Naomi Klein last night and to see her wearing one of our “sport is political” scarves designed by Bláthnaid Ní Mhúrchú @nimhur

Naomi’s new book with Astra Taylor, ‘End Times Fascism’ is enlightening and terrifying but thankfully somewhat hopeful , a sharp analysis of how the super-rich are no longer just exploiting disasters but provoking and planning for them, and a rallying call for what comes next: not separation and supremacy, but interdependence and belonging.

What I learned from the evening: we need to continue to organise. To build community, to stay faithful to this troubled earth, to resist fiercely and fight for the living world, together. 💪🏽

Thank you Naomi, and thank you to the Dublin Book Festival @dublinbookfest for organising. Such a wonderful evening. by @dee_ivafg

For a small island, we have had a far reaching influence.
More than 70 million people worldwide claim Irish ancestry. They claim it proudly and are greeted with "one hundred thousand welcomes".
As they trace their roots they learn of 800 years of oppression and how time and time again, Ireland has resisted oppression and stood in solidarity with the oppressed beyond our shores.
To fight oppression is to show what it truly means to be the fighting Irish.
With a heavy heart I learned of the Irish teams decision to play the game against Israel.
As disheartened as I am, I am more angry at our government and the FAI for letting the decisions to play or not land on the players' shoulders. It should never have come to this. They should never have been put in this position. Unfortunately, they have been.
My hope is that they decide not to play, my hope is that we can add them to the list of people we proudly celebrate for their integrity and resilience in the face of adversity.
My hope is that if this controversy has sparked anger, that you direct it at our governing bodies and sporting institutions who hold Israel and the IDF to a lower standard than those who oppose their brutality. We need to hold those in power accountable, contact your TDs, boycott, peacefully protest.
Be brave, stop the game. by @dee_ivafg

Laura, author, illustrator and podcaster 🇮🇪🇵🇸

For years we’ve sung “You’ll never beat the Irish” with such pride. In moments like this, those words have to mean something deeper — solidarity, compassion, and courage.

What families in Gaza are going through is heartbreaking. A slaughter, a loss and suffering no family should ever have to endure.

We are calling on the FAI @faireland to STAND UP and act NOW.

We are calling on our players, DON’T PLAY

Be brave. Say it. Do it.

A deep and heartfelt thank you to Laura for her contribution. For lending her voice, her platform and her courage to this when it matters most. We are so grateful. @lauradebarra 💚

Em Blake, Artist and Activist 🇮🇪🇵🇸

You’ll never beat the Irish. For years it’s been a chant on the terraces. Now it needs to mean something more.

Families in Gaza are enduring cruelty beyond words. Unbearable loss, hunger and suffering that should NEVER be allowed to happen.

We cannot look away.

So this is a call to the FAI @faireland to stand up and act NOW.

This is a call to our players, DON’T PLAY

Em spoke up. Will you?

Be brave. Say it.

We’re posting this documentary film poster with one simple hope: that it keeps being reposted.
Not for algorithms or for engagement. It’s so that more people see it. And the brave filmmakers get free PR and Marketing in a domain that’s heavily shadow banning this kind of content. (While allowing another)
Please share so that more people witness what is happening to Palestinian people through the eyes of those documenting it, filming it and living it.
Documentary film has always had the power to preserve what power would sometimes rather see forgotten. It creates a record and gives testimony somewhere to live.
It allows people, years from now, to say: we saw this. We knew this was happening.
So I’m putting the poster here.
If you come across it, watch the film. Read about it. Look at the people whose lives it documents. Make up your own mind, but don’t look away.
Let the poster travel further than any one account ever could.
Ps: tagging some accounts who will hopefully collaborate/share and help give the filmmakers support
oh and FREE PALESTINE 🇵🇸

*** edit Maria “Steen”

This debate raises a much more important issue around equality in the Irish education system. If Ms. Stein would like to discuss this matter further, I’d be happy to debate why private education might actually be part of the problem , and it is certainly not the solution.

Her reference to marriage also speaks volumes — but I’ll leave that for another day!!!

In the meantime, hats off to the brilliant children, parents, SNAs and teachers who prove every day in our state schools that respect and self-worth can’t be bought. ❤️

And to @rteradio1 - You need to do better than platforming these outdated, elitist views without challenge.

I’ve been keeping this to myself for way too long ☀️

I’m completely in love with this painting.

“Heatwave” was painted this summer by @marialiddyart a brilliant Irish artist based in Belfast.
Thank you, Maria, for creating something that feels like pure warmth. I know that my video doesn’t do it justice 💛
