The 2026 Pop Warner season has officially begun. I got a chance to talk to so many of my coaching buddies at the Head Coaches meeting. I’m excited for this season, @wccpopwarner we have the largest youth football conference in America. It’s in good hands with many great coaches.

Shout out to the Aces! The flag football team I played for, winter Champions. I’ve been surrounded with lots of winning lately. I had a key stop at linebacker to force our opponents to use their last time out with 6 seconds left on the game clock. They threw an incomplete pass next play, we won. The young 19 year old I ran down, did not know I was 21 years older than him. I’m happy to be able to still run fast at 4 decades old. 😎

LOUD SHOUT OUT to the Extreme Team. The coaching staff we built during the 2025 season was the best I’ve been apart of. We spent hours having coaches meeting, talking early am, late pm, we planned, even in disagreement we overcame, WE ALL had roles, WE ALL played a key part in helping develop, progress players on and off the field.

Most of our players were first and second year players, who needed lots of football iQ guidance, school academics guidance. You all deserve all the rewards, salute to all of you! 🫡

During the 2025 season, I decided to create a Championship belt for our team. I named it the Progressive Champion belt. The belt was given to a player after each game, who showed progress during the game. Each week it was a different player who showcased progress and development, which is the whole reason behind youth sports. Throughout eight weeks our excellent coaching staff help the processes as well. Here are the players from each week.

Week 1. Kane Williams
Week 2. Daniel Ibarra
Week 3. Jaylyn Thompson
Week 4. Noah Rocha
Week 5. Jack Dutra and Carter Gutierrez
Week 6. London Westbrooks
Week 7. Braylon Arrington
Week 8. Angel Ramirez

At our banquet I let the players put a name in the hat which couldn’t be their own, but one of their teammates they’ve seen make most progress. They had know idea I would be giving the belt away to the player with the most votes. The 2025 Progress Player of the year winner, chosen by the players was, CARTER GUTIERREZ, who was a first year player.

WoW! What a 2025 year. In 2024 I was the head coach at San Carlos, we finished a game short of the championship. Shortly after our team split, most went to Valencia Park, the others went to La Mesa. Shoutout to both of those organizations.

I was left with four first year players and one other who had playing experience. I had know idea what was next, just had players and parents who decided to hang in there with me doing off season workouts.

The 2025 season was approaching fast, I had no team to coach, I was ready to find a home for the kids who were with me and stop coaching. Thought it was a sign for me to take a break. I got with Rico for 7’s, we had a scrimmage with Skyline and the rest is history.

EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON. Loud shoutouts to all the parents who stayed with me and trusted the process. Shoutout to ALL the new PARENTS and COACHES we connected with. Now we all are, 2025 11U Regional Champions.
