Way back in the pre-pandemic INFERNO era, I invited a performer called The Uhuruverse to perform at one of our parties. I had been a huge fan of Uhuru’s work with the incredible band F U PAY US, and was amazed by Uhuru’s solo LPs and the powerful, political and sexually charged songs on his records. Getting Uhuru to NYC was not easy, but I was so pleased when he arrived and performed at our party. It was an amazing night I’ll never forget.

Uhuru lives in a Black, trans house in New Orleans called Deeepspacecraft, which is in constant need of funds to help maintain upkeep, pay mortgage, and keep the artists and community members inside alive and thriving. Deeepspacecraft is owned & maintained by and serves Black and indigenous trans people, building power and support for artists and sex workers by providing a housing safety net for those who are actively experiencing emergencies due to systematic transphobia, anti-Blackness and discrimination. The @deeepspacecraft house also acts as transitional housing space as well as a creative sanctuary and provides private, safe, work space for Black trans people working in the creative arts and entertainment industry.

The recent surge in energy costs have led to exorbitant bills for Deeepspacecraft, but the most pressing concern right now is the house’s air conditioning system. We’re all on day 1 of a major heat wave in the NYC area, and you only have to go outside to have an idea of how hot it is in New Orleans during the summer.

Uhuru needs to raise 7K to pay for a complete overhaul of the Deeepspacecraft’s AC system, and they have already raised 2.5K via a GoFundMe campaign - LINK IN BIO. Since I first sent out a call for donations on Thursday, you have chipped in nearly 2K! But they still need 3K more! I am hoping you can help us raise those remaining funds. Whether you can give only $5, $25, $50 or more, everything helps to get Uhuru to his goal. We would ensure that the Black Trans residents of Deeepspacecraft have a secure, safe and cool place to live by the end of this 4th of July weekend!

Help us BEAT THE HEAT & REPAIR OUR A/C!!! Urgent Ask 🙏🏿

Greetings to all of our supporters out there in the galaxy! The Deeepspacecraft needs your support TO REPAIR OUR CENTRAL A/C immediately! As you may know, New Orleans is very HOT and HUMID, especially during the spring and summer months! Therefore A/C is a need not a want! We have residents in the home who are currently enduring with fans, swamp coolers and ice cubes… but it is not sustainable! The quote to repair the A/C is $7K . As our condenser needs to be removed and replaced, the coil needs to be removed and plenum due to size differences. They need to Install a new box coil with plenum to match, hang and secure with heater stands, fabricate plenum, seal all transactions with tape and mastic as needed, apply new straps to ducts and seal.

Please help us raise 7k immediately- this is URGENT. We also will eagerly receive the services of a qualified professional who is an ally of the communities we serve and willing to donate parts and labor to resolve this issue!

The DeeepSpaceCraft2020 is a BLACK & INDIGENOUS safe space in New Orleans, that offers:

Protection and shelter for the Black, Indigenous, queer, trans, intersex community in the event of an emergency prioritizing folks living with disabilities.
Garden space to grow food and practice meditation
Community Events & Workshops
Art Gallery and Exhibits
Wheelchair accessible home
Rehabilitation spaces to heal
Artist residencies for Black, queer, trans, intersex beings

We are successfully going strong into our fifth year of this service based project! We are a grassroots effort and therefore we solely rely on the support of patrons, donors, community members, fundraisers, and allies.

We struggled through the end of 2025 to make it through the fiscal calendar. And we did!

Please help support us to close the gap in what we are short for repairs, it will be greatly appreciated! taken in New Orleans, Louisiana by @deeepspacecraft

@delishdagoddess, born in New Orleans and raised in St. Bernard Parish/Violet. With 9 EPs under her belt and an unparalleled performance style, she has been a steady source of creative energy and inspiration for Louisiana’s Hip Hop scene, affording her the Best Rap and Bounce award at 2018’s Big Easy Awards. It was especially her 5th, and to date most cohesive EP, Violet, that put her on the broader map. In the meantime she has been featured in Diplo’s Blow Your Head series, TNT’s TV series Claws, and Peacock’s Queer As Folk New Orleans. She has also performed with the likes of Peaches, Le1f, Big Freedia and Sophie. Delish is inspired by the people around her that helps keep her grounded. Growing up as a black gay girl in the south has been much to navigate but not allowing generational curses to continue is what guides Delish when she writes.
