Hello adventurers! I thought it might be a good time to reintroduce myself now that my page is almost at 700 followers (🥹 also omg thank you so so much) and I’ve never done an official one since my rebrand! Here’s the “deep lore” of Deep Lore Designs:

-My name is Randi, and I’m a queer native Austinite
-former banker track roller derby player and my skate name was Widowmaker
-I got into mosaics in April 2025 after taking a class with my bestie Emily and immediately got hooked! I felt like I’d finally found my medium and could express myself how I wanted
-I’ve always been “artistic” but never felt confident about my creations until I found my medium :) I also sketch, paint with watercolors/gouache, and am starting to experiment with fused glass
-Deep Lore Designs was born after spontaneously quitting my depressing corporate day job and deciding to finally follow my dream of being a small business owner. Everything I’ve learned about markets and being a working artist I’ve learned from someone one so I’m always happy to pass on any knowledge I have. What’s freely given is freely returned!
-my partner and I have 2 cats (Greebo and Calcifer) and a dog (Duke) 🐈‍⬛🐈🐕
-AuDHD and proud :)
-I am super outspoken about politics/current events and have an extremely high justice complex. For example, when I was in 6th grade I stood on top of the lunch table and yelled at 2 popular boys for teasing my best friend. 2 lunch monitors had to pull me down 😇
-I’m pro-LGBTQIA+, pro-trans, Black Lives *Still* Matter, pro-BIPOC, pro-Indigenous, pro-immigrant, pro-hoe, Free Palestine, pro-choice and **fuck IC€/M@G@** forever and always. My parents didn’t raise no bitch 💪
-almost 13 years sober!
-huge nerd (in case you could tell). I love Dungeons and Dragons and regularly watch Critcal Role, Dimension 20, and Bards of New York. I’ve been a Game Master for some DnD newbies before and loved it, I love getting new people hooked on the game!
-My partner and I are also big computer gamers, I love playing CRPGs and cozy games while his faves are roguelites and factory type games.

Hello hello adventurers! Did you know we offer custom mosaic commissions? We sure do, and it's one of my favorite parts as an artist. Collaborating and creating something together is so much fun, and I'd love to create something for you! 😊

We still have room for a few commissions before the holidays, so please feel free to DM me with any questions and let's start a project together! Shop small this holiday season and shop local whenever possible! 🥰🫶🎁 by @deeploredesigns

Glass haul! Omg @bluemoonglassworks Square-Ish Sale today was SO much fun, and I behaved myself relatively well and only took 4 new glasses home 💁🏻‍♀️ I’m also still totally tickled to have found one of the secret sale Golden Tickets items on my absolute favorite @youghioghenyglass Radium glass, I can wait to turn this one into something fun like a dragon😍

I also couldn’t help but splurge a little on the *gorgeous * Green Rondalite glass from @kog_co. After their announcement earlier this week I’ll also probably never cut into it and just hold onto it forever like the covetous little glass gollum I am 🥲 anyone else feeling that way over their Kokomo glass? 😭

If you’re in the Austin area tomorrow make sure to pop by Blue Moon Glassworks to participate in the festivites! The sale is only goes until tomorrow from 10a-4p and *you must wear closed toe shoes*, srsly it’s for your own safety 🫶 taken in Blue Moon Glassworks by @deeploredesigns

If I don’t post my Camp Glass wrap up then that means it isn’t really over, right? Right?!? 🥹🥲😭

@camp.glass was everything and more to me. It combined the joy and exhaustion of a childhood sleep away camp with the freedom of getting to be an adult playing with glass all day, all in a gorgeous setting full of phenomenal artists. I got to meet artists irl that I’ve followed for years, share and teach my medium to other artists, and make over 50+ close friends in a single weekend and I will never be the same.

Thank you thank you THANK YOU @spokanestainedglass for putting this on for all of us! I’m honored and ecstatic I got to be a volunteer and participate in the creation of CG. Thank you also to @flash_glass_mosaic for allowing me to spread the gospel of mosaics with ya, and @badglassshop for holding my hand through my first copper foiling process :) Additionally a BIG thank you to the Camp Reed staff who fed us, laughed with us, and created this idyllic space we got to be in. Doodle and BamBam and all of y’all rock! To everyone who volunteered, campers who showed up to create, and past campers, I LOVE YOU!!! These are the moments that create connection and community, and I’m just so grateful to be a part of it. Every one of us is like a piece of a glass in a mosaic and together created something beautiful. 🫶

He didn’t want my hard-earned glass, I even broke out the gold brocade Van Gogh 🥲 Also the band-aid on my finger was a paid actor, glass artists IYKYK!

Seriously though, anyone else find random glass scraps or tiles just everywhere? Pockets, purses, car floor boards, you name it and I probably have a little stash there. Glass goblin girlies unite! 💚💚💚

Also a big thank you to another amazing meal from the team at @fukumotoaustin! This is one of our favorite restaurants in Austin and everyone there is so sweet and friendly, they didn’t even mind us making our silly little reel 😆 taken in Fukumoto: Sushi & Yakitori Izakaya by @deeploredesigns

“The Hole In The Wall Tavern”. 2026. Not for sale.

I swear I can make serious mosaics y’all… it’s just that I don’t think I want to right now 😆 For anyone who doesn’t know, this little guy is the mascot and tavern sign of a little medieval tavern in Kutná Hora in a little game called Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, and I’m only a little obsessed 😬 I definitely haven’t spent a *grotesque* amount of hours in it wandering 14th century Bohemia role playing as Henry of Skalitz, page to Sir Hans Capon of Pirkštejn. It was a super immersive game and I loved exploring 14th century Czechia and learning more about my Slavic heritage. It’s a beast of a combat model, but my goodness the scenery, the languages, the history, the detail!!! This game is a masterpiece, thank you @warhorsestudios.

I finished this game over a month ago and it’s so similar to Baldur’s Gate 3 in how the story was just so rich that I legitimately feel forlorn without it. I’m happy with my ending, but I just miss it so much. So this weird little mosaic was my way of reconnecting with that era and game.

This little guy isn’t for sale, but if you’d like to commission a similar one (or any heraldry really) please let me know! by @deeploredesigns

“Starman Phillip J. Fry”. Available and on display at @atxmosaicworkshop!

I lovvvvve Futurama, it’s one of my comfort watches when I need something silly and lighthearted on in the background. When I found the perfect orangey-red Bullseye glass a couple of weeks ago I immediately saw our favorite idiot and knew I had to make him! Plus I’ve had space on the brain lately and was dying to make a fun, starry piece. And who better to star in a space mosaic than our favorite New New Yorker?

Fry may be an idiot, but he’s the most endearing idiot :)

I’m so grateful for our glassy community! Kate and Spike @flattailshop just gifted me all these amazing solid wood plugs from their stained glass lamp frames that I’m SO excited to mosaic on! What should I mosaic on them? I’m feeling some vibrant cathedral windows, but would love to hear what you see! 😍

Thank you guys so much again for the wood and the scrap glass (HOLY MOLY ❤️‍🔥)! I love partnering with fellow Austin artists who are also down with recycling 💚♻️💚

Also if you haven’t checked out their new page and website make sure you do! Their premade stained glass lamp frames are gorgeous, easy to use, and locally made 🥰 by @deeploredesigns

Hey Austin friends!!! My birthday is this Friday and the one thing I’d really love to do is clear out our goddanged house 🤪 Spring cleaning has hit me with a vengeance and I feel the need to simplify and pare down.

I’ll have pastries from a couple of my favorite bakeries until they run out and would love to see you! 🥳🫶🤗 by @deeploredesigns

Happy 1 year mosaic-versary to me!!! 🥳🤩🥳 It was exactly one year ago today that my bestie @emilywagon went with me to @atxmosaicworkshop to take their Intro to Mosaics class and my life has never been the same since :) I now work here, learn here, show my art here, and can’t wait to see what the next year as an artist will bring!

Also I just realized inefficiently created 100 mosaics in my first year, woohoo!!! That’s approximately 2 per week (anxiety days notwithstanding) lol. Not too shabby eh? 🤗 Here’s just a few of my favorites over the last year, which is your favorite? 🥰

A huge THANK YOU for being here with me and supporting my art fellow adventurers, let’s see what’s down the path next shall we? by @deeploredesigns
