September was very full. Full of adventure, panoramic views, boujie food, and lots of abundance to balance out some loss.

As important as it is to capture things in photo form, it still never completely encompasses the memory and the feeling attached.

Here are a few: Rolling up to our favorite camp spot with the dog crying because he knows where we are. Tripping to the city to say goodbye to a long time family friend, but also taking in all the art, culture, and good food we can. Filling our pantry with garden goodies made with love at home. The event my beautiful friend created and has brought so many incredible people in the wellness community together for. Sky high sunflowers and sleepy cats.

It is hard to believe it’s October and also officially our 16th live session! We are excited today to welcome our friend and talented designer, Dan Cash of @dancashdesign and @dackersupplyco!

Here are some take-aways
- Building a business starts with local networking, building relationships, rapport, and supporting other local businesses
- Most businesses would rather spend locally
- Participate in your local community and build trust
- If you’re experiencing communication issues, try to chat in person or on a video chat, allow the other person to be heard
- Be sure that your contracts are set up to set clear expectations and boundaries surrounding your process and expectations (to protect both you and clients)
- As Ted Lasso says “be curious, not judgmental”
- Be sure your camera is on when you start a video chat
- Self-taught designers may or may not all be Neurospicy, but our drive for curiosity and adding value and knowing how things work keeps us going.
- Lifelong learning adds value to your work, whether that is learning and honing your own skills, or learning about how brewing beer works when working with a brewery
- We love graphic design because there is no clean-up

👻 A game of frights. The funhouse mirror. October shenanigans. Will you survive through the haunted corn maze?!

2026 has brought us a lot of unimaginably scary items on our bingo cards, but to make light of it, this is a fun design version. Mostly fun, with a little asterisk of seriousness (and a slightly aggressive dig at @adobe and their garbage AI integrations).

At the end of the day, we are in this together, whether we hate on outdated fonts or not. Let’s work together, learn, and grow… because gatekeeping is super scary, yo!

Being a small business owner is all consuming.

You have great ideas, you start executing them and building. Next thing you know, you’re not only the chef, but you’re the sous chef, the dishwasher, grocery getter, and then the graphic designer?! All-in-all, that business is your identity and how it looks is an extension of you.

I’m right there with you! Guilty!

There is no shame in the DIY game, but as a self-proclaimed DIY & small business owning queen myself, I had to start thinking what the next step was to unbury myself.

I hired mentors to help me rebuild my diy and all of my processes, to help me better nail my website copy so I didn’t sound like a dork, and help me know that what I’m offering clients isn’t just helpful in my head.

It’s not about giving away your identity, but allowing it (and you) to be held with care and grace to help you make the extra parts that you don’t really want to be on your plate also not be a burden for you.

Let’s help you take your beautiful DIY gem and delegate the parts that are weighing you down. You’re the boss after all, not the graphic designer.
