This moment has been many years in the making. I first wrote NGLY in early 2023, recorded it in late 2024, and now at last it is fully cooked and ready to be laid on the table. I am SO excited for this track to be out in the world.

A massive thank you to @celia_mcaz, @maxime_zephyr, @rocomoroithorn, and @rrydersmith for your musical magic in the studio. You are all so incredibly talented and I deeply miss performing beside you.

To Toby at @tinytriumphrecordings, your patience, positivity, and impeccable skills brought this project from fantasy to reality. I am so grateful to be working with you.

Ginormous gratitude to @jakestokesmusicproducer for bringing this song to the finish line. Your expertise and sense of humour are bloody excellent.

Beautiful @thestillfolk, the way you captured Sir Birch, the knight inside me, absolutely rocked my world. I am so excited to continue making gloriously queer art with you.

This is the end of an era. In three weeks time I’ll be touching down on Aotearoa soil once more.
My time in Edinburgh has been dense with learning. In my career, in my relationships, and in my self. There has been love, loss, joy, friendship, growth, and a generous dollop of witchcraft. I feel I am moving closer to understanding myself and the life that I want. Being in your 20s is tough, but my god, we grow rapidly in these years!
I’m returning home to live with my darling Mama for six months in Mārahau before returning to London in May 2027 to pursue my music career. This has always been my dream, and I feel I have been skirting around it for years, hindered by fear of failure and perfectionism. But it’s time I pull up my Kathmandu socks and leap into the flames!
I have also decided to use my full name in my music, and step back from using Hearth as a pseudonym. That project may reemerge but for now, look out for Dee van Wel. So if you’re a follower of @hearththeartist and want to stay tuned for more tunes, chuck @deevanwel a follow.
I want to say a frankly enormous thank you to my darling friends here in the Northern Hemisphere. I have met some incredible people. Friends who support me, make me feel seen, and challenge me in the best way. True friends tell you how it is and call you out on your bullsh*t. Thanks for kicking my ass when I need it.
To my dear southern hemisphere homies, I’m coming home! Let’s link up and get the lowdown hoedown on our adventures.
I really can’t wait to get my toes in the earth, wrap my arms round a Kānuka tree, and dive into the river.

Had such a magical time playing at @shriekingvioletscollective open mic last night. As well as an impeccable lineup up of talented humans, the event was a fundraiser to help a prospective student of Glasgow University, Qusay, escape the tents of Gaza to start their studies. Chuck Shrieking Violets a follow to stay tuned for more of their collective gatherings for good causes. Where art meets activism, change is made. They are the revolution we want to see in the world ♥️

What a miraculous evening we shared at @sanfranvenue on Thursday night. Thank you SO much to everyone who came along and supported the fabulous @florencekitteridge, glorious @claravanwel, and myself.
