3 mid courses, 1 Michelin star and $200 later.. Was excited to try Camphor’s steak frites night bc how can someone mess up steak frites. But alas, the best way I can describe it is I felt like I was at a fancy Disneyland restaurant where the food is very bland but very expensive. A $14 DIET COKE (was $4 at Dunsmoor)

Thursday nights they only do this pre fixed menu: bread and butter for the table (my favorite thing of the night), a French salad to share and a 8oz hanger steak with a tarragon au poievre sauce and fries. 3 dipping sauces: honey mustard?, spicy mayo and ketchup. The fries were good? But the steak was unseasoned and boring
:( also like the service was not giving Michelin star. Why is the chef wearing AirPods 😭😭 I’d like to take their Michelin star and give it to Dunsmoor pls

I would not recommend checking it out and would def not go back for their regular menu by @deezys.eats

Luzitos Nobu review: a sushi freak since he could eat solid food so the obvious answer for his 10th bday was Nobu Malibu. Nobu is never where I’d go if I wanted to go to the best restaurant in the world but it has a special place in my heart ❤️

Side note: he was a big fan of the blankets at the table. He asked Noah if he could ask if they could put it on the check to take home by @deezys.eats

I abandoned Deezy eats this past year. I still love going out to eat and photographing everything, I just never post it. If you know me, you know I always have plenty to say after I try a new restaurant so I’ll try my best at reviving my page this year I promise. I’m compiling a list of everywhere I want to go this year and I’ll try to eat my way through it while documenting!!

RVR in Venice… we’ve heard a lot about this new spot on Abbot Kinney, Japanese izakaya from the owner of Gjelina and what Jerry Allen White said was the best meal he’s had in a long time in LA. So this was Noah’s Valentine choice, I chose Saffys on Saturday. (I’m obsessed with Mediterranean always)

Vibes: 10/10 - dark, buzzy and sexy. We had so much fun chatting for 3 hours at the bar. The couple/ old college roomates next to us who mentioned one of them was cheating on his wife and kids definitely helped keep us entertained. 3 rounds of tinis had us sauced, we walked out onto Abbot Kinney and I ran into Roosterfish bc they were playing Drake 😭

Food: the food was great, I was blown away by the hand rolls (but I’m always a freak for hand rolls) and the duck rice. Everything else? Like fine but not anything crazy. I saw someone say the shrimp dumplings gave frozen from tjs and I def agreed. I think you’re paying for the aunbi by @deezys.eats

I think it should be illegal to make lunch at home on Sundays, someone had to say it. Also I hate beer. Lunch was so good 9/10 taken in Fathers Office In Culver City by @deezys.eats

Tower Bar..

They’re nailing the vibes but failing the food and OH MY GOD is it overpriced.
1st they gave away our resi so we had to eat in the lounge, that’s fine. The dirty martini was unfortunately delish and the oysters🦪 ($78 🤠) were divine but that’s kind of where it ended for me. Anything they cooked was boring and honestly bad.

The Caesar salad was store bought dressing 🤮 and bag croutons, I felt like I was at Olive Garden. The truffle fries were grossly overly fake truffley and just greasy. The pigs in a blanket, idk it’s a hotdog in bread 0/10.
I was so excited about the Sundae, but was disappointed. Presentation was 2/10, it’s not giving hot fudge sundae( Hillstone would never).

Our server was a doll and the staff was great at helping me find my diamond ring that fell off (def bc of the 2 strong martinis). But I’d only return if I wanted fancy drinks and I was already in weho. We all know I love a boujee vibe, but $350 for a few shitty shared plates and drinks was NOT warranted lmfao by @deezys.eats

Priscilla requested ice cream on a Monday night, so we got ice cream on a Monday night. I wish I could say Sweet Rose wasn’t worth it at 3 ice creams for $40, but unfortunately it is. It’s the price I’ll pay for all organic and local farm sourced ingredients that make THE BIGGEST difference. I got banana purée and Rocky road 😍 by @deezys.eats

U guys I love Caesar salad so much. Did I not hit my protein and macro goals today bc of this Caesar salad, yes. (Why does olive oil have so many calories 💔)

Anyways, arugula, romaine, dressing, homemade croutons and the bare nuggets from Costco all in a giant ass metal bowl <3 also spoons for chopped salad is a must xoxo this is my recipe, try it. by @deezys.eats

Made a giant sushi dinner with my family. But my sous chef only captured my yellowtail jalapeño :(
It’s just yellowtail, soy sauce, garlic minced and yuzu. Top w a thin lil 🌶️.

P.S I cook way too much to be hassled with peeling garlic. But not all bagged garlics are not equal, the Whole Foods 365 peeled garlic bag is my #1. It’s not gross, I probably go through a bag a week and I’m not joking.

I also made salmon carpaccio with truffle and pistachio, spicy tuna and a bunch of sashimi. We got the best quality fish at Yama for so much cheaper than mitsuwa ✌🏻😘 by @deezys.eats

Yama Sushi Marketplance on National 🍣🍱

Bento box I shared with my lover at this little neighborhood spot. Spam Masubi and katsu chicken.
I will no longer be buying my sushi grade fish at Mitsuwa. The market is so cool. by @deezys.eats

I’ve heard a lot about Steak 48, so as a Mastro’s girly, I had to check it out. Steak 48 was started by the same brothers who founded Mastro’s.

Let’s start with the hospitality: from the second we walked in, it was a 10/10. They wished us a happy anniversary, and when they seated us, they gave us a personalized handwritten letter from the general manager. As someone who loves fine dining, it’s really the little things that matter. I hadn’t even tried any of the food yet and was already blown away.

They start you off with bread from the kitchen, which was my least favorite thing. Why am I eating crescent rolls at a steakhouse? Plain and boring. Anyways, I ordered a blood orange pomegranate martini, but it really just tasted like pomegranate, and I have no complaints. While I’m usually a fan of a seafood tower and a ton of starters, we really wanted to focus on the mains. We started with a simple yellowtail crudo with crispy shallots, yuzu, and truffle oil—it was so good and fresh! They fly their seafood in daily.

For protein, we got the 45-day dry-aged 22-ounce ribeye with truffle butter. On the sides, we kept it simple with whipped mashed potatoes and mac & cheese. We also got a tiny crabcake that I wasn’t expecting to be so tiny. A tiny complaint: they serve the butter on the side, which I wasn’t obsessed with because it kind of melted on top of the 500-degree plate they serve it on. As for the steak, it was good, but it wasn’t Mastro’s good, unfortunately. I want to go back and try the tomahawk or a different cut. I think it was unusual for them too, because I heard people at valet who had just eaten talking about how “the ribeye today was unusually fatty.” We were both blown away by the mac & cheese. They packed our leftovers and sent us home with the bone for Lu, which earned major points with us.

Neither of us could even think about dessert at the end. But I did like, however, when they brought us our check, even though we didn’t order dessert, they brought us two little chocolate chip cookies to end the meal. We both agreed that Steak 48 made it a memorable night for us. We love the ambiance and vibe and will definitely return. by @deezys.eats

Hatchet Hall, lets talk about it.
This Culver City hot spot was all the rage last year but it lost its Michelin star 🫢🍵
We got almost everything on the menu and right as we were ordering they 86’d the fried chicken 💔

We got the deviled eggs, market fruit, burger and fries, biscuits and gravy, peach 🍑 pancakes 🥞, old bay potatoes, short rib hash, cinnamon roll, their famous cornbread and some scrambled eggs not pictured.
Thoughts- it was really good but it doesn’t give Michelin star. For their corn bread being their thing, I wouldn’t order it again. The best thing I tried was honestly the fruit, it was so sweet I love peaches. The biscuits and gravy were good but you can’t really mess that up. Priscilla said my potatoes are better so, 😃

Overall, it was a good Sunday brunch, but I wasn’t blown away. I’d go back to try the fried chicken but it won’t earn a spot in our Sunday favorites. by @deezys.eats

Okay, Hillstone is always good but tea is, why was our waiter so rude? I was a server I’m allowed to pass judgment 😗

But first, this dirty martini was so good I could eat 50 of these olives omg.

Okay so, like don’t let me make a 8:45 resi and close at 9? How am I supposed to know, she also like didn’t tell us they were closing but we were trying to order mains and she was like “ooh let me see if the kitchen is still able to” ???? Crazy and she didn’t do the classic, change out your martini glass half way through, which is signature Hillstone service but WHATEVER. It’s always so good, they can be mean to me or whatever by @deezys.eats
