Meet Professor Ronaldo Delibero 🇧🇷🥋

Born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Professor Ronaldo began training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in the 1980s and became the first black belt promoted by Carlson Gracie Jr. in 1995.

After moving to Miami, he helped grow Jiu-Jitsu in South Beach—teaching classes at night while running his business during the day. More than 20 years after his last competition, he returned to the mats and continues to train and compete as a coral belt.

🏆 3× World Champion
🏆 3× Pan American Champion
🏆 3× North American International Master Champion

His legacy lives on through his sons, Victor and Bernardo, who have become elite black belts competing on the world’s biggest stages.

Come experience authentic Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with Professor Ronaldo at 5th Street Fight Sports.

🇺🇸Black belt. 🖤🥋

Today I achieved a dream and received my Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt.

I’m incredibly thankful to all of my professors @cyborgbjj @vagnerrochabjj @deninhobjj @bernardodeliberojj and teammates at @fightsportsmiami @vagnerrochamartialarts who have helped me grow throughout this journey.

Most importantly, thank you to my father and coach @deliberojiujitsu .Thank you for always believing in me, pushing me to be better, and never letting me give up, even when things got tough. I wouldn’t be here without you.

This is a special milestone, but it’s only the beginning. Time to keep learning, keep improving, and keep chasing bigger goals.

Thank you, everyone. 🙏

🇧🇷Faixa-preta. 🖤🥋

🙏 taken in Miami, Florida by @deliberojiujitsu

One Of Those Fight Forms That I Find Truly Amazing Within Combat Sports Is Jiu-Jitsu, Unfortunately I Have Injuries That Prevent My Progress In The Sport Of Jitsu Currently But Still What A Honour It Has Been To Train With Veterans Of The Sport & Even Masters🥋🔥. OOOSSS Respect To Those That Have Further Help Me Adapt My Game & Knowledge👏🏽🧠.

Getting my fourth stripe as a black belt made me stop and appreciate just how much Brazilian jiu-jitsu has given me.

It’s easy to keep chasing the next goal and forget the journey, but this art has shaped so much of my life—my career, my friendships, my travels, and countless opportunities I never could have imagined.

A special thank you to my very first coach, @rockjiujitsuathens . When we started, he was a purple belt with a small gym in Greece, and neither of us could have imagined where the journey would lead. Thank you for introducing me to an art that changed the course of my life.

And thank you to @deliberojiujitsu for the continued guidance and for this milestone. The learning never stops. taken in Miami Beach, Florida by @deliberojiujitsu

On the 2026 Pan American Championships: I lost my first match and didn’t feel well—no excuses. As I always say, I’m healthy, and I’ll keep fighting and having fun on the mats, doing something I love so much: Jiu-Jitsu.

I win some competitions, I lose others—it’s normal, especially at 67. However, I fight with determination and passion, always respecting my opponents and never thinking I’m the best. I’ve been ranked first in my weight class for a few years, but I don’t always have a good day, just like in any sport.

Now I’ll take a short break for medical treatment, and, God willing, I’ll be back even better.

Congratulations to the Pan American champions, and much respect to all these men over sixty who continue on the mats, fighting and improving their health. by @deliberojiujitsu
