Before we go any further - let us (re)introduce ourselves👋

We started this campaign because we’ve lived it. Because the women and birthing people around us have lived it. And because too many people are still going through it.

Swipe to meet us🫶 and follow along, because there’s something very exciting coming very SOON😉🎙️ by @deliveringbetter

*TW: the above slides include statistics relating to the current crisis in UK maternity services - please swipe with care*

The theme this International Women’s Day is Accelerate Action 💪 and we couldn’t be more excited to partner with @deliveringbetter ♥️

As well as celebrating women and all the incredible things we’re capable of doing, we wanted to use today as an opportunity to do something impactful, something that could accelerate action 🚀

@deliveringbetter is a campaign for safe, compassionate and evidence-based maternity care. The campaign is demanding that urgent changes are made to improve women’s experiences and outcomes in pregnancy, birth & the postpartum period (a cause that is *so* close to our hearts here at PBC 🫶).

The great news is you can join the movement too and help drive change faster 🚀

Here’s one simple action you can take today ⤵️

👉LIKE this post and FOLLOW @deliveringbetter on Instagram 👍

A simply follow shows that you care and that this cause matters. It helps to build momentum and puts pressure on the government to prioritise maternity reform ✊

Do it for you! Do it for the women who will come after you! Together we really do have the power to make birth better for all 💪

P.S. we will be going live with Jo from @deliveringbetter later this month to discuss the current situation, what the campaign is hoping to achieve and what you can do to ensure a positive birth experience 💫

🚨WE NEED YOUR HELP!🚨

😱We’re hearing rumbles that the government may deprioritise maternity care reforms - and that big decisions on this front are going to be made in the next week or two. We totally get that there are lots of things that need money, and we know that the NHS has a lot of areas desperate for funding, but leaving more mothers, birthing people and babies at risk with continually underfunded maternity care doesn’t feel like a trade-off any government should be making.

📣We need to show the Health Secretary @wesstreeting that this issue isn’t one that can be swept to the side and we need ALL OF YOU to kick up an almighty public fuss.

💪These are decisions about our lives, our bodies, our children. Let them know it matters. Let them know we all deserve care that delivers so much better.

💌Sign our open letter to the Health Secretary (link in bio) now - and send this post to three friends and ask them to do the same. Bonus points for sharing this post to your stories and helping us to shout this from the rooftops! There is now a precious window of time for us to make our voices heard 💪❤️ #mothersdeservebetter by @deliveringbetter

Hey @uklabour 👋 - it’s the Budget tomorrow.

You keep saying maternity care is a “national priority”.

So how about you fund it like one? by @deliveringbetter

Shoutout to @birth_ed and her brilliant new book Birth Power💅🏻✨

“We are not blank slates” @birth_ed on the circumstances that shape us going into birth🫶

“If we improve maternity care for those who are most likely to experience harm, we improve it for all” @birth_ed on systemic racism in maternity care 👏

You can enjoy more of Megan’s wisdom by picking up a copy of her new book “Birth Power” 🫶 by @deliveringbetter

This is the book we all wish we’d had when pregnant📖

There are SO many books out there for pregnancy and the early days of parenting - but nothing comes close to preparing you for birth and early motherhood like Birth Power does.

It’s the absolute antidote to a world where we’re overwhelmed by views, data, and advice. This is your north star, a guide that gives you balance and fact in a world of opinion and taking sides.

Such a joy to be asked to host @birth_ed ‘s book launch Q&A last night. And honestly, who doesn’t love spending an evening at the Vagina Museum💛 by @deliveringbetter

We have some thoughts. Two horrendous maternity reports = zero emergency action. Football game at night time = Emergency legislation. It really doesn’t sit great when the two reports about the horrifying state of maternity care were responded to with “let’s make a plan in 6 months”.

We’re pretty frustrated by the inaction so we’ve decided to pull together a big old crew to bug the heck out of the government until they actually do something useful. LINK IN BIO JOIN US PLEASE ❤️ by @deliveringbetter

Meet Jo, founder of @deliveringbetter ⤴️

Just a few years ago, she was a mum who had been through a terrible birthing experience - but since then she has built a national campaign and pushed maternity care up the political agenda.

And Breakthrough helped her get there, with our year-long campaign Accelerator.

We provided Jo with advice on how to navigate the complex world of Westminster, as well as ongoing personal support to make sure, as a lived experience campaigner, she was working sustainably.

Today, Delivering Better have built a movement of 8,000 mothers, been invited to give evidence to the Government’s investigation into maternity care and have recently launched a podcast sharing meaningful experiences and insights within the world of maternity rights and care. 👏

If you’re like Jo and have an experience you want to do something about, and you want our help, get in touch.

🚨 Applications for our next intake of the accelerator programme starting this September are OPEN - link in bio and on stories 🚨 by @deliveringbetter
