🔴 Trendsetter
Thank you to @prissperry for adding this in your collection. Created in 2024 in my Brooklyn studio. Trendsetter is part of my Oak Cliff series where I painted childhood friends and our experiences growing up in the Dallas neighborhood affectionately known as Oak Cliff. “IYKYK”

I love to see the provenance journey of my pieces. Through exhibitions she’s traveled to Brooklyn, East Hampton, Charlottesville, VA, New Orleans, LA, Morris Township, NJ, Montclair, NJ , Dallas, Tx only to be shipped back to Brooklyn and shipped back to Dallas.
This painting and the stories of each musical genius belongs with Crystal Perry and May the stories and legacy live on. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 taken in Dallas, Texas by @demarcusmcg

“It’s official and I can finally share what I’ve been up to for the last year. Thank you @fwpublicart @artsfortworth @cityoffortworth @fortworthfd and Fire Station 26 for this opportunity.

At last night’s Fort Worth Art Commision meeting, Demarcus McGaughey presented his final designs for an installation for Fort Worth Fire Station number 26! The project is called “Stitched in Service” and will be soon be installed, once it is finally approved.

Demarcus McGaughey is a Texas-born mixed media artist, who passionately captures the beauty, strength, and vibrancy of people. McGaughey specializes in a mixed media style combining painting, photography, graphic design, paper, and fabric collage.

Throughout his twenty year career, McGaughey has worked with prestigious brands and organizations, including Beyonce Knowles Carter, the Fort Worth Zoo, and beverage giant Dr. Pepper. His work has been highlighted in numerous magazines, galleries and museums across the nation and globally. Selected for two distiguished public art commisions, Demarcus brought his “Kindred Murals” to life in Brooklyn, NY and in Dallas, TX at the Concord Church. There he transformed the church foyer into a vibrant gallery environment that blended faith, art, and technology, inviting congregants into an immersive visual experience rooted in heritage and spiritual reflection.

Ps. Thank you Mike for urgently suggesting that I submit to be on the vetted public arts list. Even when I said “I’m not a public art artist!” Thanks for pushing me!

@mtrichardson.studio Michelle, you are heaven sent! Thank you for all the support. You’re the best creative project manager ever!!!
