HOW TO REPORT CRIME IN DENVER

Did you know that Denver has a ton of easy ways to report crime or suspicious activity? Text 911 is one of them -- call if you can, text if you can't. If the thing you are trying to report isn't an emergency but you still need police services, you can call our non-emergency line at 720-913-2000 and press 2 or file some reports online at denvergov.org/police -- just click the "Report Crime Now" button. You're also more than welcome to walk into any one of our six district stations. And if you want to submit a tip anonymously, you can do so by either calling Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP (7867) or online at https://goo.gl/8Tu5ni.

The Colorado Information Analysis Center (CIAC) also provides the opportunity to submit confidential tips concerning suspicious activity reports. Here's how:

• CIAC 24/7 Phone line: 1-877-509-2422
• CIAC E-mail: cdps_ciac@state.co.us
• Report Suspicious Behavior: https://goo.gl/KoZnMa
• See Something/Send Something Mobile App: Called “See Send”, allows users to report suspicious behavior from the links section within the app.

Tell your friends and for more info on the Smart911 program, visit Denvergov.org/911Now.

Howdy, neigh-bor 🐴

For the first time in years, we had mounted patrol here at #RedRocksCO this week! Horses are part of our history, from serving as a primary form of transportation to the first concert here in 1906 to taking center stage at Roundup Riders of the Rockies in the 1950s. taken in Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre by @denverpolice

💜 Today, in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser, Denver District Attorney John Walsh, Denver Police Chief Ron Thomas, the Rose Andom Center, and survivors came together to highlight the importance of awareness, support, and resources for those impacted by domestic violence.

Each October, Domestic Violence Awareness Month reminds us to uplift survivors, remember lives lost, and take action. Denver’s One Mile Closer to Hope walk shows our community’s commitment to supporting survivors and ending domestic violence.

WHAT TO KNOW:

• Domestic violence, also known as intimate partner violence, includes physical violence, sexual violence, stalking, and psychological aggression by a current or former intimate partner.
• According to the National Domestic Violence Hotline, intimate partner violence affects more than 12 million people every year.
• In 2025, the Rose Andom Center served 1,861 clients, a 25.6% increase from the 1,482 clients served in 2024, continuing significant year-over-year growth in demand for services.
• In 2025, 3,756 cases were assigned to the Denver Police Domestic Violence Unit.
• 411 strangulation cases were filed by the District Attorney’s Office in 2025.
• With the newly announced Strangulation Response Protocol, the number of filed cases is expected to increase.

The Rose Andom Center provides vital services for survivors and their children, from advocacy to medical care to help with restraining orders and DPD’s dedicated domestic violence investigators work on-site with partners to hold offenders accountable.

If you or someone you know needs help, call or text 911 in an emergency, or 720‑913‑2000 for non‑emergencies. Immigration status is never asked when reporting domestic violence. For more information is available at denvergov.org/domesticviolence.

When 9/11 happened I was 10 miles from the towers. I was in 9th grade. I remember school let out early and when everyone walked out of school, there was this morbid silence. It felt really eerie to walk out of school and have everyone around you but there was no laughter or joy. Everyone was in zombie mode. When you walked outside, it smelled like burnt rubber. You can see ash coming down. It was snowing ash. They didn't cancel school the following day, but if you didn't want to show up, you didn't have to. I remember that there were a number of us that did go and we stayed in the gym and supported each other. There were people in my school, in my class who lost family members. That had a strong impact on me. I knew in that moment, I wanted to get into civil service. I had this calling to follow that path. I was raised to take care of people and I didn't recognize that it would turn into anything until that point. Until 9/12. And I thought, "this cannot stand." There has to be someone that stands up against people that want to hurt other people. So, I joined that Marine Corp when I was 21. After serving five years, I moved to Denver and applied to the Denver Police Department and started in 2014. Besides helping people, this career is the closest you get to being a super hero. I loved super heroes when I was younger. You get to come in and save someone's life and not just that, you get to stand up for people.
