POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I didn’t realize how much I still internally fear seeing people’s reactions to my story until I watched my inability to keep eye contact during the filming of this video.

There was a time when I needed someone to hear me. To believe me. To understand the danger I was trying so desperately to explain.

Today, I have the opportunity to use that same voice to help others be heard.

I’m incredibly grateful to the @denverpolice for inviting me to share my story during Domestic Violence Awareness Month and for creating space for conversations that are difficult, necessary, and capable of changing lives.

Surviving domestic violence taught me what it means to recognize danger. Advocating for survivors has taught me something equally important: seeing danger and making somebody else see it are two very different things.

And that is why this work matters.

Because awareness alone isn’t enough. We need understanding. We need accountability. We need systems and communities willing to recognize the warning signs and respond before another person becomes a victim.

Domestic violence is not just a survivor’s issue. It’s a community responsibility.

And every one of us has a role in changing what happens next.

💜

As always, thank you @rose_andom_center , @nationalsafeparents , and all of the peers I have worked with so far on this journey.
You keep me able. 🙏🏼

Our Mounted Patrol is special to Denver. Representing our Western history and heritage, this patrol unit brings a visible and friendly presence to our downtown. When you see them riding around downtown, be sure to say hi!

💥 For ten weeks this summer, #DEA Rocky Mountain, @denverpolice and the City of Denver conducted “Operation Overdose Intercept.”
👊 The results: drugs off streets and lots of arrests.
👀 Here’s a recap… and to be clear: we’re not done.
