If you do your job to your best ability this will hurt. This mission is not about making yourself feel better, this mission is about BEING better and having a greater impact on the world.

Results have since changed. 🥉became 🥈THROWBACK THURSDAY. Recently I found out the placing of Bronze in this race in 2016 has been upgraded to a Silver! 🥈It does feel strange to celebrate something that happened almost 7 years ago. I was fortunate to have very fast teammates. Ben, Justin and Alex
It wasn’t in my first few races that I landed on the World Cup podium l. It would be more like 50-60 races in and several years.
Not everyone will understand your goal, or something you feel you’ve been called to do. But since this has been delivered to you for a reason you must protect it. If someone fails to see the value of the journey that you been called to do, you have be unswayed in your pursuit. It’s hard when it’s the people close to you. People might say you’re crazy, and you can say; I’m not crazy I’m just not like you. Because others cannot understand what it is you’re after. by @derek_plug

For the love of the game.

Apex Miami delivered I met so many great athletes and gained a lot of insight of how others were preparing for the competition. It also was one of the hottest climates I’ve ever had to compete in.
I had knee pain between 2-4 weeks out of the competition that impacted my running and jumping so I want to thank Tyson @movesportclinic for helping me get onto the field competition day!

I also want to commend all the coaches and volunteers and content savants for well run event and for these great photos. Thank you!!

I ran 4.59 in the 40 yard. My early on splits weren’t as good as I wanted them to be but I was happy to hit 21mph. And sub 1 second split in my last.

The toss: On my first throw I threw 74’8” then Tim got the crowd into the second and I surprised myself with a 78’ throw.

Interview with Tim the founder of Apex after breaking the record with the medicine ball

Yeah I’m from Canada bud, probably snowing back home

Broad jump: Oh maan, I scratched both my broad jumps from stepping one foot forward both times. I’m not used to that rule. I don’t even know what I would have jumped if I didn’t step forward.

Vertical jump: I jumped 30.5 inches which wasn’t good, but it was my least measured event in training.

Trap bar deadlifts at 405lbs: I did 33 reps and didn’t get any no reps, so I was happy about this.

Bench press repout at 225lbs: I did 16 reps. The fatigue started to compound from trap bar.

Mile: all the wheels fell off in the mile and I felt bonked before even starting, not finishing was not an option, I finished but it was slow, this is my biggest training priority and will comprise 1/3 of my effort over the next block.

Events winners, the guy that won the 40 yard dash is a fellow Canadian and he’s 37 from Quebec. El-Hadj was giving me some of his training ideas for what he used to break the 40 yard record!

James and I trained together in sprints and throws leading into Miami and we snapped a pic with the founder Tim.

Competed in my first ever Olympic lifting competition in edmonton this past weekend.
I went 4/6 hitting all my snatch attempts and missing two of my jerks. I power snatched all my attempts bc that’s what I had trained the entire block.
snatch 90kg, 101kg, 105kg
clean and jerk 130kg, 140kg, 140kg
I had to follow my own attempts for a lot of my lifts in this comp and I was not expecting to be having to perform my attempts with only 2 minutes between after stepping off the platform. I was the eldest competitor in my flight and was 6kg light than max weight for the category (110kg). Even though I didn’t hit any personal bests I’m happy with the outcome from raw dogging the competition with no coach, no set training plan or technical review of my lifts, just heart and grit. My old bobsleigh teammates/friends Efrem and Graeme were able to come out for the competition which was the cherry on top. NOT DEAD YET. #pre #caffeine #cleanandjerk by @derek_plug
