HOW THE HAIR WAS DONE -
Where art meets science and technology
🎨🧪🩻

For this hairshow creation, I drew inspiration from the curves of a scoliosis spine — transforming structure, movement, and imperfection into wearable art. Every twist and detail was designed to reflect the beauty within anatomy and innovation. 🩻

ART - SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY 🎨🧪🩻

This look hits me close, Scoliosis is commonly associated with ‘back pain’ or ‘bad posture’ when in reality, it is a disability. It changes your day to day life immensely. I, and many others had to, and are going through this journey silently and alone because to any other individual “it’s just back pain”. Countless hospital visits, a number of medical braces, endless bullying and 4 years of pain led me to getting a ‘Spinal Fusion’ which corrected most of the curvature in my spine. I relearnt how to walk, sit and do life all over again. My scars are my little battle wounds, they are art which show me I can overcome the biggest of challenges. Abigail Kuhn states that “some roses grow with crooked stems but that doesn’t change their beauty”. I couldn’t agree more. Hairdressing is my passion, I should not have to put my dreams aside over a diagnosis. With this, I hope to spread awareness about scoliosis and spine health and prove that you are stronger than you think.

A big thank you goes to:

@bertacurmi who guided all of us throughout every single step & made this entire journey unforgettable.

@_shania._.spencer_ My incredible model who also happens to be one of my closest friends, i’m so happy we got to work on something together.

@liams_makeup.artistry Who went above and beyond with his incredible makeup skills and truly brought the entire look to life.

@kurts_creative_stitches who created the most gorgeous skirt I could have ever asked for, your talent is truly something remarkable.

@magendimech_ & @lisaamicallef My amazing assistants of the day who were so reliable, this look couldn’t have been completed without all of you.

@orthopaedicentremalta for the brace in the first clips, thank you so much.

3 Years at @mood_nco! ✨🤍

What a journey this has been! I started off as a 16 year old apprentice who knew very little about hair, besides the fact that I loved it and that I wanted that to be my career.

Hair was something i always knew i loved, I always saw it as something creative, elegant and beautiful.

At 19 years old and a recent full time hairstylist, my biggest advice to all baby stylists who are just getting started in the industry, is that if you want something, you’re gonna have to work VERY hard for it, especially in the beginning. It’s okay to not be where you want to be at first but it’s up to you to get there.

There is always gonna be room to grow no matter how long you’ve been in the industry. For me, each year is a stepping stone which leads me to the path I want to get to.

Thank you so much to my amazing bosses @darren_moodnco & @malcolm_moodnco who have challenged me, guided me, helped me gain confidence, and taught me throughout this entire journey, i’m eternally grateful.

Here’s to many more! 🎉

What REALLY happens behind the salon chair? 👀😂

A little laughter, a few unexpected answers, and some honest conversations with Destiny!

Because behind every great salon experience is a team with different personalities, plenty of stories, and a shared passion for what they do. 🖤

At Mood & Co, we believe chemistry is just as important as creativity.

Now tell us… should we make this a series with the rest of the team? 👀👇

A promise we made and a journey that has officially started.

Today, Destiny delivered her first presentation to the team. 🎓

Becoming an educator isn’t just about being good at what you do.

It’s about learning how to communicate, inspire, share knowledge and have the confidence to stand in front of others.

This was her first step.

At Mood & Co, we want growth to mean more than becoming a better hairstylist. We want our team to discover what they’re capable of and give them the opportunities to actually become it.

Proud of you, Destiny.

First presentation down. Many more to come. 🖤

Style a Donna wig with me
✨DAME edition✨ 💙🤍

- I am no professional wig stylist, everything i know is self taught through videos, websites and a ton of practice so there is definitely always somewhere to improve!

- It’s a creative outlet, it’s fun and requires a ton of patience (you’re dealing with tangly synthetic hair for HOURS) but the end is worth it 💙🤍

From bold red ➡️ back to her natural ✨🤎
We softened the red into a rich, natural-looking brunette, then added the tiniest touch of lighter brown highlights for subtle dimension — because sometimes less really is more. 🤌🏼

A natural transformation that still has that little something extra. ✨

Would you go back to natural or keep the red? 👀👇🏼
